Playing the game
How do I play?
You will need to be a UK resident, aged 18 or over, with a Facebook account and a smartphone to play the game
If you’ve got that covered, go to http://www.Pret.com/Hansel
(we recommend playing on a smartphone)
Click ‘Play’ and follow the instructions on screen.
Pick a Hansel from the baking tray. He’ll tell you if you’ve won a treat or not.
You have four chances to pick the right Hansel. Good luck!
I didn’t win. Can I play again?
You can play as often as you like, until you win a prize. After you’ve won once or been sent a prize by a friend you won’t be able to win again. This is so we can spread the festive joy to as many people as possible!
What happens when I win?
You will see a message on screen saying you’ve won a treat
You will be prompted to log in via Facebook, if you haven’t done so already (this is so we can send one of your chosen friends a treat too)
You will be asked to pick a friend you’d like Hansel to send a treat to. Simply pick one of your Facebook friends from the pop up and we will send them an email with all the details they need to redeem their treat (remember it’s best to pick a friend who’s in the UK and can get to a Pret shop easily)
You will then see your winning screen, which includes your treat, a unique code and the expiry date of your code. Take this screen on your mobile to a Pret shop before the end of the expiry date to redeem your free treat.
What can I win?
We have 10,000 tasty Pret treats up for grabs, and once they’re gone, they’re gone! Prizes are either a Crimble Crumble or a Hansel The Gingerbread Snowman.
Why do I need to sign in with Facebook to claim my prize?
So we can give unique codes to winners, and ensure one prize per person (we want to spread the Christmas joy far and wide), we need a way to recognise players when win and when they come back to the game. Logging in with Facebook also allows us to share a treat with your friend, on your behalf.
What will Pret be using my Facebook data for?
So we can create unique codes for winners and give a free treat to you and your friend we need your name, email address and fiends list from Facebook. We’ll only use this data for the Hansel game and to make sure you see better and more relevant messages from us on Facebook in the future. Don’t worry, we won’t spam you or your friends with any emails in the future.
I don’t have a Facebook account. How can I redeem my prize?
You will need a Facebook account to send a treat to a friend and claim your own. You can create an account by going to http://www.facebook.com
Winning and Sharing Treats
Why am I being asked to choose a friend to send an email to?
When you win a treat – either a Hansel or a Crimble Crumble – Pret will send one of your friends a treat too. You will be asked to pick one of your Facebook friends for Pret to send a treat to, they will then receive an email from Pret telling them how to redeem it. Their redemption does not affect yours.
My friend sent me a prize – why can’t I see it in my email inbox?
The email will come from Pret A Manger ([email protected]
). Depending on your email settings it could end up in your Spam or Junk E-Mail boxes, so make sure you check there too. The emails are sent via Facebook, so we won’t be collecting your email address for marketing or spamming you or your friends with any emails in the future.
My friend shared a treat with me. Do I get to play the game too?
We want to give as many people as possible a chance to win a Hansel or Crimble Crumble, so we’re afraid once you’ve won a treat (either by playing or receiving one from a friend), you can still play the game but you can’t win another treat.
Do I have to redeem my treat at the same time as the friend I share it with?
You can get your treats together or separately, in the same Pret shops or at different ends of the UK! You both just need to show your unique winning screens to redeem your respective treats. Remember you may have different expiry dates depending on when your friend opens their email and clicks through to redeem the treat (it’s worth nudging them to open it so they don’t miss out).
What happens if my friend doesn’t open their email before the game ends?
If your friend doesn’t open their email until after the game has ended, the prize will have expired, so we highly recommend nudging them to open it as soon as you’ve sent it!
I’ve won a treat - do I not get another go?
We want to give as many people as possible a chance to win a Hansel or Crimble Crumble, so we’re afraid once you’ve won a treat, you can’t win again.
I’ve won more than one prize, why can I only see one?
Hansel wants to spread the joy far and wide, so there’s only one prize per person. So if you have been sent a prize by a friend and then played the game – you will only be able to win the one treat. Why not share the game with your friends so they have a chance to win too?
I can’t see my winning screen anymore, how do I get back to it?
on your smartphone browser and follow the instructions to sign into the game; you will then be taken to a page with your unique code and details of your prize.
Receiving a treat from a friend via email
My friend has given me a Pret treat, what do I need to do?
You will have an email from Pret A Manger ([email protected]
) in the mailbox associated with your Facebook account. If you can’t find it, check your Spam or Junk folders as it could be lurking in there.
Open the email (we recommend opening it on your smartphone to save time) and follow the instructions, clicking through to redeem your treat
You will arrive at the game – click ‘Sign In’ to get to your treat
You will be asked to log in with Facebook
Once you’ve logged in (and we therefore recognise you), you will see a winning screen with details of your free treat, a unique code and an expiry date. Take this screen on your mobile to a Pret shop before the end of the expiry date to redeem your free treat.
Getting Your Treat
I’ve won a treat, how do I get hold of it?
Go to the most convenient Pret for you (UK only) before your unique code expires.
Pick up the treat you won and take it to the till.
Show the Team Member at the till your winning screen on your mobile (the screen shows the treat you won, the unique code and expiry date). To get to this, go to http://www.pret.com/hansel
and sign in with Facebook.
The Team Member will enter the unique code into the till and hey presto! You’ll get your treat for free.
Can I get my treat from any Pret shop?
You can redeem your treat in any Pret in the UK. Find your nearest Pret and information about their opening hours here > http:/****/FindAPret
I couldn’t redeem my treat in one of your shops, why is this?
This may be due to a few reasons:
Your treat has expired – please check the date on your winning screen.
The code has already been used – all codes can only be used once.
There weren’t any Hansels or Crimble Crumbles available - try another Pret shop nearby or ask very nicely for an alternative

How long do I have to redeem my treat?
The expiry date will show on your winning screen, you can find closing times for UK shops on our website > http:/****/FindAPret
I can’t get to a Pret before my treat expires, can I extend the expiry date or pass my treat onto a friend?
You can’t transfer it to a friend or claim it after the expiry date, but you can share the game with friends to help them win treats from Pret too.
I played on desktop, how do I redeem my prize?
Go to http://www.pret.com/hansel
on your mobile browser. You will be prompted to sign in to the game using Facebook and will be taken to your winning screen on your phone.
Why does it say my treat has expired?
There is a limited amount of time to redeem your prize in a Pret shop – this date is given on the winning screen when you win. Once that date has passed you can no longer redeem your treat.
Hansel’s Big Adventure Isn’t Working
It isn’t working for me, what do I do?
Check you are connected to the internet, either by wifi or a good mobile signal, then try again.
If that doesn’t fix it, please send us a direct message on Facebook with details of what isn’t working and we’ll look into the issue for you.
Who is this Hansel anyway?
Hansel is our Gingerbread snowman. He's at the 'reins' whilst Godfrey the Gingerbread Man is on holiday. Handmade in Yorkshire by artisanal bakers, Hansel is made in small batches to a traditional recipe. This year he is dressed with jelly sweet buttons, the children of modern Britain could do a lot worse than to celebrate Christmas with a nibble of this delicious biscuit!
Every Hansel the Gingerbread Snowman is different. Some yearn for adventure out in the big wide world while others want to stay cosy and warm on the baking tray with their friends. Play Hansel’s Big Adventure and if you pick a Hansel who wants to start a new life outside of the kitchen, he’ll reward you and a friend with a treat!
