Homicide is one of the best cop shows ever. In the past it has always been buried late night on channels like Bravo.
Now its on ITV 4 its finally getting an audience. To celebrate Season 1 & 2 is finally on DVD in the UK (previously only available on import well worth it!). Ignore what it says on the competition page this set does have both season 1 & 2 in it. (Season 1 is 9 episodes, season 2 is 4 episodes (tying with Sinfeld for the shortest number of episodes ordered in US history)).
From the Radio Times website:
It was like no cop show before it - but every single one since has strived to be Homicide: Life on the Street. Film director Barry Levinson and star TV writer Tom Fontana took a non-fiction account of policing in Baltimore and turned it into riveting drama. No flamboyant car chases, no soap opera, only occasionally a neat ending: it's the best police precinct series there is.
If there's one thing wrong with Homicide, though, it's that you haven't seen it: this television masterpiece has only recently started to be seen here on ITV4 after a decade of obscure late-night screenings. But now the complete first season will finally be out on DVD from 26 February and you can win a copy courtesy of Radio Times and Fremantle Entertainment.
