1 Terabyte is 1000 gigabytes. 1024 would be a Tebibyte so I would go with 1000 as the correct answer. Then again that's not what we're used to dealing with when we see boxes on the shelves*, so whoever created the question may not have checked!

*Unlike hard disk manufacturers, Windows and programmers use base-2 to report sizes, 1024 bytes in a megabyte, 1024 megabytes in a GB. This is the main reason your 4GB memory stick shows up as 3.7GB in Windows.

This is because hardware manufacturers use the decimal system to make it look like you're getting more for your money.

Extra confusion as Apple have changed over to the decimal system since OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard, so this makes a 1GB stick actually appear as 1GB as it said on the box, the downside is your files all look larger (e.g. a 4.5MB download may now be reported as 5MB but in reality it is no bigger/no more bytes). Of course the hard drive will still be 5-10Mb short of the total because they partition a bit off for the firmware but that's another issue.

Sorry to ramble, it's Sunday and I'm wasting time when I should be doing something useful.
