Luxury Trip to Newcastle Gateshead
Win a luxury break in NewcastleGateshead
They say that a day is a long time in politics - but it's not when it comes to a trip to NewcastleGateshead. That's why the winner of this competition will have 48 hours to enjoy the city's many attractions.
Even then they'll merely have their appetites whetted. On arrival on day one, the Laing Art Gallery would be a good place to start. After a few hours there, aching legs can be given a rest on an afternoon river cruise. Chinatown is a mouth-watering destination for an evening meal, a hearty feast there serving as the perfect preparation for a trip to the theatre.
Day two could be spent in Sunderland (a short ride away on the Metro) where there's a glass factory to explore as well as the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. After a spot of lunch in a top-notch restaurant, the Souter Lighthouse will prove an illuminating destination. And to continue the nautical theme, Littlehaven beach offers fabulous sunset views across the Tyne. Finally head back to NewcastleGateshead to check out some of the many pubs and bars in the evening.
If a fuzzy head accompanies the dawn of day three, then a spot of R&R in the tranquil Saltwell Park in Gateshead may be required. The more energetic visitor will be tempted by the fantastic shops located in the MetroCentre, while the Angel of the North is the perfect stop-off point on the way home.
Of course, that's just a glimpse of what NewcastleGateshead has to offer. Anyone who spends a weekend there will want to come back for the sequel - another 48 hours.
