QUESTION :- What is the name of the system that helps the PEN to take SLR-quality photographs?
ANSWER :- Micro Four Thirds
Were rather partial to SLRs here at Stuff: they take fantastic pictures and they appeal to our love of big, tech-laden gadgetry. But even we cant deny that theyre cumbersome things, especially if you carry spare lenses and a flash. So do you get a compact and accept that you cant swap lenses and be as creative? No, you get a PEN.
Olympus PEN E-P2 is the update to last years groundbreaking E-P1 , which in turn was a cutting-edge reinterpretation of the classic 1950s Pen. It uses Micro Four Thirds tech to cram a near-SLR-sized sensor into a sleek, classically styled body no larger than a chunky compacts. So you get ace picture quality using manual control or multiple auto modes but without the bulk. And you can even swap lenses like on an SLR: the E-P2 comes with a 17mm pancake lens and a 14-42mm wide to 3x zoom, while a super-wide 9-18mm and 40-150mm tele-zoom will hit the shops in May.
But thanks to the generous folk at Olympus, you might not have to wait that long because weve got one ultimate PEN kit to give away: a black E-P2, all four lenses, the optional flash and viewfinder, a special leather camera bag, and an adaptor that allows you to use E-System SLR lenses. Thats nearly £2000-worth of equipment!
