Stay in a 14th Century Castle in the Vale of Durham and uncover the county’s fascinating history…
This is no ordinary competition – we’ve teamed up with Lumley Castle – No Ordinary Hotel to offer two lucky the winners the chance to stay overnight in this historic castle hotel, enjoy a fantastic night of entertainment and great food.
We’ll also throw in tickets to award-winning Beamish Museum which is only a few miles from the hotel. Not only that but you’ll also get a VIP pass to help you explore some of Durham’s finest attractions.
Lumley Castle is situated in Chester-le-Street, near to the Emirates Riverside, home of Durham County Cricket Club, is less than 10 miles north of Durham City and is the ideal place to start exploring the county’s amazing history and heritage.
You’ll step back in time the moment you walk through the doors at Lumley Castle which was constructed in the 1388 and takes its name from the man who was behind its creation, Sir Ralph Lumley. In the past it has played host to Kings and Princes – and you can live like the Lords and Ladies of a bygone age with the regular Elizabethan Banquets.
At award-winning Beamish Museum you can experience what life was like in North East England in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s – it is England’s largest open air museum set in 300 acres of countryside and a must-visit on a trip to the North East.
You’ll see history come to life at amazing attractions and events taking place across the county this year, including Durham Cathedral and Open Treasure - the world-class exhibition experience in the heart of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, the return of Kynren, the must-see open-air show of the summer in bishop Auckland, and much more.

Prize includes:

Overnight stay at Lumley Castle
