Innovation is key to progression in the percussion world, and this month’s competition brings together two of the industry’s innovation giants - Roland and Meinl - for a cutting-edge prize package.
For starters, Meinl’s Jumbo Bass Subwoofer Cajon features forward projecting sound ports for enhanced bass tones, ideal for live playing scenarios. Internal snare wires and adjustable top corners give the cajon extra snap while the walnut frontplate would cut a dash on any stage.
What’s more, Roland is throwing in one of their new EC-10M cajon mic processors - the clever box which turns any acoustic cajon into a ‘hybrid’ machine. The EC-10M’s microphone clips to your cajon’s sound hole in order to trigger a multitude of on-board sounds from the module, ranging from percussion instruments to enhanced cajon tones.
Additional sounds can also be played with toe taps on A/B foot pads and the EC-10M even functions as a mic preamp to amplify acoustic and electronic sounds through a PA. It’s by far the easiest way to bring your live sound bang up to date.
To enter, all you need to do is answer the simple question, below.
What is the name of the drum machine Roland is best known for?
Suggested answer: C) TR-808
