WIN a Shakespeare-inspired romantic break
The romantic, historical surroundings of Oxford Castle Quarter will bring the words of the Bard to life this summer during an eight-week Shakespeare Festival run.
Actors from three of Oxford’s most talented theatre companies will grace the stage within the castleyard area of the city’s unique site, with their versions of Shakespeare’s most famous plays.
Audiences can be entertained by the romance and tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the conflict of Macbeth and the seafaring Twelfth Night and The Tempest. The season runs from Monday, June 19 through to Saturday, August 12.
Oxford Castle Quarter is the city’s unique, historic site, offering year round attractions to suit everyone, including Oxford Castle Unlocked, where guided tours provide a fascinating insight into the 1,000 years of history captured within the preserved castle prison buildings.
Ideally situated within a short walk of the city’s centre, Oxford Castle Quarter offers an eclectic mix of bars and restaurants; from the sophisticated 1855 and Malmaison bistro, to the convivial Pizza Express and Prezzo to the traditional Slug & Lettuce and Swan and Castle. The boutique Malmaison Hotel is situated in the heart of Oxford Castle Quarter. Set within the old Oxford prison, Malmaison is today a distinctive hotel with stylish rooms and a roof top terrace, brasserie and bar.
