Whistlebare is a small family farm and boutique yarn business based in Bowsden, immediately inland from Holy Island. The farm keeps its own Angora goats for their fine mohair and Wensleydale sheep for their long wool. Blended together, they produce wonderfully soft and lustrous yarn.
The company’s natural yarn is produced with the utmost care for quality, beauty, animal welfare and environmental impact. You can see this if you enter our competition to win a skein of Whistlebare’s four-ply Yeavering Bell, a blend of 80 percent mohair and 20 percent Wensleydale wool, as well as the pattern to knit the company’s best-selling Daisy scarf. The winner of the prize can even pick the colour of their yarn from a number of options.
