a three-night break for two to the Icehotel in Swedish Lapland
Enjoy three nights in Swedish Lapland’s iconic Icehotel courtesy of Discover the World and the Scandinavia Show.
We’ve teamed up with Discover the World and the Scandinavia Show to offer one lucky reader and their partner a three-night holiday flying with Discover the World on the only direct flight from the UK to Swedish Lapland and the magnificent original Icehotel.
Located in Jukkasjarvi, 200km north of the Arctic Circle in the heart of Swedish Lapland, the Icehotel is rebuilt every year using ice from the River Torne – some of the clearest in the world – and lasts a few months before it melts back into the river. The grand, ice-pillared hallway is filled with intricate ice sculptures and snow carvings, and illuminated by a spectacular ice chandelier.
One night is spent in a unique ‘snow room’ where the bed is a large block of illuminated ice with a thick mattress, a layer of reindeer skins and a thick polar sleeping bag and two nights in a luxurious warm room.
There is a host of exciting activities and excursions on offer including snowmobiling, husky sledging, ice-driving, reindeer sleigh rides and great opportunities to witness the wonder of the Northern Lights.
The hotel boasts two traditional restaurants where you can sample local delicacies such as grouse, elk and reindeer and you can wind down form the days activities in the popular Absolut Icebar with a brightly coloured cocktail served in a chunky ice glass.
