Dried fruit is often treated with sulphur dioxide gas or sulphites during processing, to extend shelf life, as these compounds act as preservatives to help prevent oxidation so that the fruit retains its colour. These sulphites sometimes cause adverse reactions but you can be rest assured that Organic Village do not use sulphur compounds.
The fruit is grown organically, then painstakingly harvested and prepared involving a long and delicate process of hand picking, washing and careful de-stoning, and natural sun drying for a week or more.
