The intensity, drama and spectacle on offer at the RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day in Somerset on Saturday 8th July will be an experience not to be missed. The Air Station’s gates will be open to 40,000 visitors, just as they were 70 years ago, in 1947 at the first ever airshow at RNAS Yeovilton.
Over five hours of amazing flying displays will include fast jets, historic warbirds, helicopters, formation display teams and aerobatics. Leading the flying display will be rare naval heritage aircraft such as the Sea Vixen and Sea Fury, and their modern-day counterparts performing spectacular role demonstrations. Airshow favourites, the Red Arrows, Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster will also be in attendance to wow the crowds. Foreign military aircraft will also take part in the airshow including a rare and dazzling appearance by the Swiss Air Force national display team – The Patrouille Suisse, and fast jets from France, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
Alongside the magnificent flying display visitors will have the chance to see aircraft on the ground, meet the pilots and even sit in the cockpit. There is a huge array of ground attractions waiting for you from engineering fairs to the latest defence technology exhibitions, Service displays, trade stalls and arena displays. For the thrill seekers, there will be simulators, fairground rides and helicopter pleasure flights to enjoy.
