The competition will open on 15/11/10 and close 10/12/10 10.00am (UK time).
To enter the competition, entrants must complete the entry process which consists of: Entering street name and postcode, selecting Google Street View image and completion of registration form (consisting of: name, email address, mobile phone number, answer the question ‘What would make your perfect Christmas?’ and agreement to the Terms & Conditions). All fields must be completed to constitute a valid entry.
Only one (1) entry in the online Competition per postcode and street combination will be accepted.
Open to residents of the United Kingdom only
By entering, you agree that your name and address may be disclosed to another resident in your street where a query is made over duplicate competition entries for the same street.
Entrants must be aged 18 or over.
Entrants must live within the postcode that they enter into the competition. Postcodes will be used as the basis for competition entries to locate each winner’s residence due to some streets being covered by multiple postcodes.
Entrants must be available and willing to participate in publicity around the prize and on the day the prize is awarded (18 December – see point 22 for full details) at times agreed with Sainsbury’s and their agencies and suppliers and be open to further media requests in the period following the perfect Christmas makeover. Permission will be sought for the involvement of any children under the age of 16 from a parent or legal guardian. This will consist of still photography, short interviews and video content for use in all media including print publications, television, broadcast radio, online and social media.
The twenty five (25) most supported entries at the time of the competition closing will be shortlisted for consideration as the winner. The most supported entrant will not necessarily win as there are other considerations.
Any person entering the competition accepts that specific access criteria is to be met regarding the suitability of their location for the perfect Christmas makeover including, but not limited to:
The type of road.
The location of the residences will be under consideration for winning – their nearness to local suppliers and the accessibility to the location via local roads for large vehicles
Sufficient space within the location for large vehicles, set builds, heavy equipment etc.
Any persons entering the competition accepts that specific permissions criteria are to be met regarding the eligibility of their location for the perfect Christmas makeover including, but not limited to:
Council permissions for street closures, street dressing etc.
Landlord permissions if the properties under consideration for winning are rental properties.
Residents’ permissions from the neighbouring properties that will be affected by the Perfect Christmas makeover. The owners of the properties adjacent and opposite to the winner’s house must be in agreement for complete fulfillment to be possible.
Shortlisted entrants will be contacted by telephone once the competition has closed by Sainsbury’s representatives who will arrange for an assessment of their location to be made and to gather information which will include visiting the winner’s property in advance.
Five (5) judges appointed by the Promoter will select the winning entry based on the level of support gathered by that entrant for their entry, suitability of the entered locations for the perfect Christmas makeover taking into consideration the access and permissions required for fulfillment, and the answer of each entrant to the qualifying question ‘Tell us what would make your perfect Christmas?’
All entrants of the competition accept that certain disruptions will be necessary to deliver the perfect Christmas makeover which may affect themselves and the residences within their immediate vicinity including, but not limited to, work outside of sociable hours on their street and around the premises within the street, the presence of large vehicles around their residence, numbers of staff in and around their and the neighbouring properties. All disruptions will be kept to a minimum as much as possible.
Entrants and all participating residents agree to work with the suppliers of the competition prize to avoid any damage to property and the street during the fulfillment of the prize.
Entrants and all participating residents will be asked to grant permissions for the building and de-rig crews to access their property in their absence if they are not/cannot be present during the makeover process.
All entrants, residents, participants and guests accept responsibility for and must abide by all of the health and safety rules put into place by the on site Health and Safety officer without exception, with specific consideration towards children under the age of 16 within their care.
Residents are limited to inviting guests to attend the perfect Christmas street makeover to a number agreed in advance with the competition fulfillment organisers. Family members and friends will be welcome to join the perfect Christmas experience. Sainsbury’s and their agents request to be notified in advance of additional guests invited outside of the street residents.
The Prize, to be awarded to one winner, will consist of synthetic snow, carol singers, Christmas lights, one outdoor Christmas tree and decorations and a selection of Christmas food and drink products from Sainsbury’s. The prize does not include an appearance from Jamie Oliver. Additional elements may be added to the perfect Christmas makeover pending all permissions being granted and at the discretion of Sainsbury’s, including, but not limited to, Christmas sleighs, giant Christmas props, fireworks and the showing of a Christmas film. At the end of the makeover all elements of the prize will be removed.
No cash or other alternative prizes will be available, except in the event of circumstances outside of its control, whereby The Promoter reserves the right to substitute for any similar alternative prize of equal or greater value.
The fulfillment of the prize will take place on 18/12/10 pending council, access and all residents’ permissions being granted as detailed above. Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd and their associated agencies and suppliers engaged in delivering the competition prize reserve the right to move the fulfillment date where circumstances dictate outside of their control – e.g. severe weather conditions, act of God. In instances of unavoidable postponement, the winner will be offered an alternative date in 2010 where possible or be given the option to re-arrange for 2011.
The promoter accepts no responsibility for entries delayed, corrupted in transmission or not received.
The prize is non-transferable.

Users are only allowed to vote for a street once. Activity will be monitored regularly throughout the competition to ensure that this is not abused.
The decision of The Promoter is final in respect of all promotional matters and no correspondence will be entered into.

Any Sainsbury’s colleague may enter the competition apart from those directly associated with the creation and/or organisation of the competition.
