The Donmar Warehouse hit production of Guys and Dolls continues to enjoy sell-out success at the West Ends Piccadilly Theatre, and is now also hitting the road in a UK tour, starring Claire Sweeney and Ben Richards. Ten lucky winners can see the show for free. Prizes must be won by 14 August 2006.
Well known from TVs Brookside and Celebrity Big Brother, Claire Sweeneys previous theatre credits include Chicago and the recent touring production of Fosse. She is currently starring as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls in the West End before touring with the show, starting at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow on 19 September 2006.
Ben Richards, most recently seen on television in Footballers Wives, will star alongside Sweeney as Sky Masterson. His stage credits include Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, The Full Monty and Saturday Night Fever. For the Birmingham dates, Nigel Harman, who previously starred in the West End cast of Guys and Dolls, will take over from Richards, reprising his role as Sky. Based on Damon Runyons short stories about New York gamblers and their girls in the 1940s, Guys and Dolls has music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. The musical was made into a 1953 Hollywood film starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons and Frank Sinatra. Its produced by Ambassador Theatre Group and Live Nation in association with the Donmar Warehouse.
