Thanks for the heads up, I got a quote last time but my insurance isn't due until August so this will be within the 3 month validity

This deal is only for new customers, not renewals. I stated that I could wait until my current insurance lapsed and then re-apply but the rep said that the renewal was valid for 14 days after the end date, so any re-application would have to be done after the end date +14 days.
It would just be my luck for the house to burn down in this 14 days

50% off! That's a joke. The quote I have just had (including the 50% off) is £30 more than what I'm paying now. I have had 6 quotes over the week end and none were over £310 and yet Tesco with the 50% off quotes me £334!! So the premium before the discount was £668. Tesco, please don't take the p!

Can you not just sign up as a new customer then, say in your wife's name and not your own.

It was competitive for me, I've been getting quotes all week and that was one of the lowest.

Eeek!

Very expensive here too, unless the website is forgetting to take the 50% off.

It quoted me £124 for buildings and contents for a 4 bed detatched bungalow. Changed a few of the options to get personal stuff, higher contents, accidental damage and lowered excess to £75 and it went up to £180 which is still good cos I'm paying £220 at the moment with MoreThan.

I'm in South West Scotland.

Comparing figures with each other is no use as there are too many variables, Tesco will be cheaper for some and not for others.

I've paid £350 in 2004, £236 in 2005 and £236 in 2006.

Tesco have quoted £242 for identical cover including accidental damage and personal possessions. This looks reasonable in comparison to previous years.

I'll get other quotes in July using the Quidco cashback deals to see how they compare (only sureshop deals). 8)
