I've been looking for a small notebook for a while as as i wont be downloading loads on it and it will go perfectly with the mobile broadband from 3 i have as i need something for work that i can type my notes up on. i have a 4gb sd card to so i can plug that in and if i do wanna download i have a 60gb hdd i got here for £30.


ASUS have created the brand new Eee PC 701 4GB for total mobile internet computing. This half-UMPC, half-laptop hybrid has to be the best mobile internet revolutionary experience you will get.

Eee stands for Easy to learn, work and play, Excellent Internet experience and Excellent mobile computing experience. Bumps and shocks are no longer issues. With a dependable 4GB solid-state disk, you get unparalleled shock-protection and reliability.

Using a Linux-variant operating system requires only 15 seconds to boot. Microsoft die-hards should note that Windows documents are compatible with the ASUS Eee PC 4GB . The Eee PC includes the documents and the e-mails software, and a suite of other productivity software to help keep you on track. It'll ship with Open Office, Firefox and Skype, but you can install any number of other open-source applications.

It's pre-order, estimated instock date 7 Dec.
It's a bit flaky connecting to Microsoft networks wirelessly. Fine on a wired network. Open Office is not completely compatible with Microsoft Office. All the same a nice notebook but sold mine and I am now waiting for the 8G model with the rumoured Windows XP.

I believe if you are in Education you can get it for £199.
All the write ups have been positive considering price and what you get for it...as small as an A5 piece of paper.
Ideal for those out and about a lot or even kids, runs a form of linux so more secure than XP (contentious I know)
This is the price I have seen quoted in most places.
Read the spec- 7 Inch screen!
Gets a hot vote for bringing it to peoples attention.

Amazingly well-made and sturdy, nice clear screen, decent battery life, good wifi reception, easy to set up and very cute. 4GB doesn't sound much but it's fine - just keep your music and video files on an SDHC card or USB drive and the 1.4GB free space inside the machine is OK for documents, email, diary, etc. Don't bother with Windows unless you want to make a hobby out of getting it working - the Eee PC is great to just USE. Just wish it had Bluetooth..

imho Asus EEE is the perfect micro office for everyone.
it allows you to do whatever your want, eg. you can install windows, ubuntu or use default xandrOs.

you can also expand your store size using usb hd or sd cards or connect it to an external monitor ('ve just finished to test it on a Plasma 42" and it works very fine).

So if you need a small pc, buy it!
