02 Broadband and phone £7.50

Don't know if this is the right category, but I contacted O2 saying that I was going to switch to another provider (and I was indeed) and they asked me which one. I said Virgin because I had a good offer from them.
Shortly after they offered me broadband for FREE for a year as long as I switched my phone line from BT to O2.
As I don't use the home phone at all - except for the broadband - I didn't need any call packages, so I accepted it.

In the end I am paying £7.50 a month for home phone and broadband which makes an excellent deal.

£90 for a year

does that include phone line rental ?
#2
and don't you have to either top up £10 every month on pay as you go or have a pay monthly mobile contract?

think that means you only pay line rental of £7.50pm. the broadband is freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ;)

Very hot!
But this isn't really a deal that anyone can get unless they are already with o2 and threaten to switch...

How much were you paying a month for your broadband anyway out of curiosity?

These offers seem to be down to the individual you are dealing with. Last time I tried when I read an offer here, o2 wouldn't entertain my request. Worth a try, but dont rely on the same outcome. They may let you go.

BTW before you ask for such a deal you need to be able to cancel your contract within 30 days. If you are still in a 12 or 18 months contract, dont bother.

thats a phenominal deal.

I also got the same deal yesterday.

£7.50 per month for Landline Phone Line Rental + Home Broadband Basic for 12 month contract.
(Is billed as £20.50 per month, then discounted £8 free broadband, then £5 O2 mobile phone linked to account)

I was on O2 broadband, just outside first year contract (having paid very little for broadband due to Quidco/Topcashback this time last year).
My phone line rental was with BT, but will be moved to O2 as part of the deal.

It does depend who you speak to at 02, as had been told not possible, then had to take top phone package at £12.50 per month inc calls, then told £9.50 per month inc evening & weekend calls, finally got through to a good agent who did broadband free on their basic line rental only package.

Im sure line rental will be around £12 extra.

Yes, but the broadband will be capped at 20GB per month.

Yes it is Broadband basic upto 20Mb connection and capped at 20GB per month. But for me that is fine, might not be for others, but I am sure you can pay the extra £4 per month to go unlimited if you need it. That would make it £11.50 per month for Phone Line Rental + Unlimited Broadband

No, the £7.50 per month includes the line rental, see the O2 homephone website for more details, part of the O2 broadband webpages. (As mentioned in my earlier comment, charged as £20.50 per month minus £8 free broadband discount and minus £5 O2 mobile phone customer discount).

You only pay the line rental which is 7.50! You don't pay the broadband. Simples! (:

I was paying £9.50 to O2 for the broadband plus the line rental to BT around £12. Now I only pay £7.50 and have home phone and broadband like I did before. But I'm paying much less. Simples (:

I have had (and accepted) the same offer but be warned, they are moving you from UNLIMITED broadband (at £12.50 before discounts) to 20Gb LIMITED broadband (at £13 before discounts once you start paying for it). They want to move people off the unlimited broadband accounts and that's why they are being so generous. Be prepared to move to another provider in a year unless they cut another deal with you.

They said that I would keep unlimited data[/quote]

Did they move you to the "All rounder" package then?

I have to correct what I said previously. I kept the same limit that I had before: 40gb per month. Which for me is the same as unlimited lol
For £7.50 can you ask for more? (:

I think that the 40GB was the unofficial fair use limit, I should think that you will now be on the official limit of 20GB. But if that suits you then its a good deal.
Personally I'm on the old 8MB unlimited package for £7.50 (or £12.50 last month, since they failed to send the topup reminder). When I rang up to ask about adding the home phone, the nice chap asked "what do you use the internet for?". Basically I couldn't have home phone without changing to the new packages. So £8 and 20GB cap, don't think so.
My contract has finished also, but no offers were forthcoming, so I guess this iwill be for low data users only.

Nice thread, we have the discounted broadband at £7.50 at the min..as we have added a p.a.y.g , o2 phone linked to it , so long as we spend £10 every 3 months......which is fine........as you get 300 free texts into that also, .......But the next thing was to move from , B.T, land line....and join o2......so ill be keeping my eye on this thread......any probs anyone post them here......thanks.
