02 are offering reconditioned iPhone 3G for free on 02 iPhone Pay Monthly Tariffs

Inorder to get this, you need to ring and upgrade via 02 upgrade centre.
My friend received this offer when upgrading her phone on the £35 iPhone Tariff.
There are also a few threads online outlining people that have also purchased them for free.

Cheap way to get an iPhone!

whats the best deal anyone has got on an iphone? i keep getting the same spiel about how they cant offer any discounts as o2 dont make the tariff etc etc. They did say to me before xmas they had refurb 8gb ones, im just hoping they have 16gb white ones, as im going to ring them up now...
banned#4
how is this cold?

they should make it that you have to write a description beofre you can press cold
#5
Hot from me!
#6
hot from me too, i think there are a select band of apple cold voters on here, i posted a great offer on a macbook air for 100 less than another one that was 240 degrees and it was more powerful too. minus 140. nuff said.
#7
ifone has some serious build quality issues, no end of ppl reporting probs, so on that basis is cold from me
#8
Just called them. 8gb but no 16gb.
#9
ok cheers ill wait another couple of days as they said they would definitely have some after xmas...
#10
If people want this phone, and it's the cheapest way of getting it, then it's HOT.
#11
have had both types of ipod touch and they are good

however the iphone is poor in comparison and already being caught and overtaken by other phones on the market

in the forthcoming year ( if it is bad as GB says ) then either they will give them away with the £35 or seriously have to reduce the tariffs

The PAYG is not worth the £170 top up to the ipod touch as it currently stands

poor internet functionality

very poor camera (comparable to most £40/50 PAYG)

and has a poor track record since day1 of launch for phone call resilence

PAYG itself is probably worth £250 tops!

They don't make white ones anymore and havn't for ages so I doubt they will have any, it was the white ones known to crack - no reports on the black ones doing the same.

To the person who asked for the best deal on an iphone - there simply are no deals, what you see on the O2 website is it, there are no 3rd party retailers, even CPW send you to O2 directly if you buy through them.

Great monopoly but if you want one, you'll buy one.

So any bad product if it’s cheap enough has to be voted hot:whistling: One of the reasons I like this site, is the feedback from people who have more knowledge than me of the products listed. So hopefully saving me wasting my money:p Not voted

That's probably the most ridiculous comment I've ever read here.

I dunno, in a recent UGG boots thread someone wrote he'd consider a £2000 plastic Banana a hot deal. My jaw hit the desk. :whistling:

why?
#20
widely believed that the 32gb version may arrive at macworld in january (5-9th). so i'd expect the 8gb to drop to free on £35/month (or possibly be phased out entirely in lieu of 16 and 32 gb at the current (or slightly higher price points.

so good price if you want one right now and are on o2 already, but personally i'm gonna wait a couple of weeks to see what happens

why?

Do you really need me to explain, are you that (insert suitable word here) that you cannot work out why that comment is so ridiculous?

I completely agree surely if we were supposed to rate the quality of the deals instead of reviewing the product the wouldn.t have called the site "hotukratethequalityofproductsandtheirassociatedcompanies.co.uk" the clues in the name. Stop voting if a £40 chocolate teapot is a good deal at £5.99 inc postage +Quidco or they will have to change the site name.

Does any one know if they will be offering the 16GB iphon on this reconditioned iPhone deal.

Yes i realise this, but I was offered a free 8gb phone before xmas, was just wondering whether anyone had been offered free insurance or a free 16gb one with the 35£ tariff or higher, just for remaining on o2... just to add to my bargaining power when trying to renegotiate. And you can still buy white ones on the o2 website...?
#26
What was the commitment time ? 12 wonths 18months?

6months even?

Is it worth it to get the 2g on on 18 months when you can get the 3g one for an extra tenner a month and phone free and after 9 months drop it to a lower tariff of your choice.... works out 90 quid more albeit for a newer phone which has not been usd by other people already.....
#27
Or is it on simplicity?

Please do tell as I want one if its on 6 months or less......
#28
you have to have it for 18 months, the cheapest tariff is 30 a month, its worth having the 35 a month as you get a lot more. still not really worth it, i just really want one! i dont think you can still get the 2g ones on contract can you?

I was told before xmas that they would have some after xmas, thats what im waiting for!
#30
Is this for the 3g one then?

Its jus that i have 'hearsay' about the 2g ones as there were a s**t load that were returned to o2... so i am hoping/ assuming they will be flogging them at some point.....

apple iphones are brilliant and any one who differs from that view is just jealous. Yep their overpriced, bit of a **** camera etc but I've never had any problems and it plays great games, has some good apps, plays videos and internet browsing is just so easy with the touch controls. won lots of awards so it's not just me saying it's great it's the industry. If it's so **** why is everyone else trying to do the same thing.
#32
The iPhone is the best phone I've ever owned, ok it's not perfect but it's getting better with every new firmware upgrade, it blows my old N95 into the weeds in every way. Even the camera while not being 5 megapixels takes a pic when you press the button, not 10 seconds later like a lot of phones do.

And if the refurbs are as good as some refurbs I've had, ie, like new, then this is a Hot Deal!

which is exactly what I said .........overpriced, sh*t camera and all the good parts you can get as part of the ipod touch without paying over the top for a contract or a PAYG at £350.

Everyone is copying the functions of the ipod not the phone

They do the other bits cameras, phone, satnav and wi-fi much better anyway depending on what phone you get. Iphone only excels in the ipod mp3 player functionality of the touch

even where it trys to say it can do other things better it got s )lapped down by the ASA for false advertising and misleading adverts ( hence the caveat on its adverts now included and the removal of all of the internet from its new advertising due to the lack of flash functionality

( by the way are not apple simply trying to copy what phones do as an add on to the ipod touch)

ive got mine on a 45 a month deal with 30% staff discount i love the phone the internet is great

I have a old ipod touch and now i have a iphone. It does everything in one unit (who wants to be carrying 2 bits around) and i think the touch is missing the gps function.)

Nit picking on words as their basically the same. people didnt copy the ipod or they would have beaten apple iphones to the shops....They copied the phone.

How long have you used a iphone or ipod touch for incidentally?

A long sentence to tell us it cant do flash but everything else.

( by the way are not apple simply trying to copy what phones do as an add on to the ipod touch)

Opinions count and whats coming out here is the idea is great the product delivers in some areas and is complete pants in lots of others. (texts, camera, GPS, battery etc etc )
I got a 16g ipod touch for my son at Xmas £135 (Argos) its a great piece of kit for the money - but add a phone that doesnt even forward texts has a **** camera and trebles the cost on PAYG - you would have to be barking to consider.
Add the fact that when its battery change time the nice people from Apple will charge you about 10 times more than any other phone battery to remove a couple of screws and stick a new battery in for you.....
Love the idea but hate the way everything is an expensive extra and half the basics are missing.... Ill wait till Aplpe wake up and smell the coffee right the wrongs and produce a phone that works at least as well as a £9.99 PAYG. as a phone...

agreed and the next 12 months will see a shake up in a big way. most companies are developing iphone type phones and you can see them coming pretty soon and they wont be tied down by appleand the'll sort out the problems the iphon have. the'll most probabaly be using open source google android.
