With reviews like this http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-1-5TB-32MB-Drive-ST31500341AS/product-reviews/B00066IJPQ/ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_1?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addOneStar and elsewhere, avoid at all costs.

I believe these problems where all fixed with a firmware update but regardless of this, telling people not to vote hot on someones thread seems a little rude.

I would think it a lot worse than rude NOT to warn people of problems that could result in massive data loss, as these drives were! A deal that self destructs would be the worst deal possible!

HOWEVER -
It seems the firmware update here:
http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=207931
has the problem solved, although naturally enough people are going to be a bit nervous with them.

I am not put off, as all my data has a SECOND backup as well as the most crucial stuff being stored online, but the risk is as always with the buyer!

It wasn't the warning I said was rude, it was the "do not vote hot on it".

I would vote hot if it weren't for the word 'Seagate'.
