QUOTE FROM POSTER "This offer will run out very quickly. Wickes are doing one roll for £28.00"

QUOTE FROM REP "thx was going to get £5 rolls in homebase saved me a fortune"

QUOTE FROM REP "thanks for the post we're going to be warm this winter"

The bad news is it seems the deal is unavailable in Northern Ireland, just in Britain.

Rockwool is fireproof, which is not the case with the colourful fibreglass based insulators.

This will run until the 25th of October, or when five thousand people have taken up the offer - so realistically - until five thousand people have taken up the offer.

Loft insulation acts as a blanket, trapping rising heat from the house below. Without it, you could be losing as much as 15%* of your heating costs through your roof. If you currently have no insulation and install the recommended depth (270mm) you could save around £150* a year on your heating bills! Or if you already have some insulation, why not top it up to 270mm and feel even more warm and toasty?

Hurry, limited offer!

Can YOU do it yourself?

Some people ordering have experienced difficulties using Firefox. IE always seems to work, but other browsers such as Opera, Safari, Sea Monkey, Galleon or Epiphany may work if your version of Firefox has problems and you do not have IE.

Lastly - and not really in the spirit of the deal - but I used two rolls of this to insulate the hollow sections on my car, which considerably quietened the car while driving. The same can be done to vans that have been lined with plywood, to reduce drumming, and keep the inside warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Also at this price its cheap enough to insulate the walls abd roof of your garage too.

Is this for customers of Npower only?

It could have equally been posted as a Build Centre deal - as it its they who are the suppliers. It appears to be open to all and not just Npower customers (I guess its the same type of thing as the heavily subsidised low energy bulbs that are being sold quite frequently now.

Had a good read of the website and it seems not to matter.

1 a roll offer applies to DIY loft insulation only. The £1 a roll offer is limited to the first 5,000 customers, is subject to availability and irrespective of how many customers have purchased the insulation the offer will end at midnight on 25th October 2009. Offer is only available for delivery to households in Mainland Great Britain and you must own your own home or rent from a private landlord. Where unused rolls are returned for a refund the refund price per roll will be the offer price of £1.00 per roll. DIY

It runs until the 25th of October, or until five thousand people take up the offer - so its very unlikely it will expire in the next few days.

Thank you - have ordered :-) - heat & rep added !

Excellent price.

We had our house done (loft & cavity wall insulation) for free under Kirklees WarmZone scheme. If they hadn't I'd be buying lots of this.

Good evening all

Could one of you please tell me how to work out how much i need
Measure left to right and then up and down
How do i make it a square meter calculation
Many thanks in advance
#19
rogercat . If you are using firefox, thats why. If you use internet explorer it works fine. I found that cart does not pick up items if browsing with firefox / mozilla.
#20
bigwheels length x width gives you number of square meters required, at £1 roll err on the bigger side. then just add thickness u have or require.

To do it properly - you are best to measure the depth between the rafters - and fill that first. Then put a second layer on running at 90 degrees to the initial layer. 27cm is considered to be the best depth, but at this price using two layers of the thickest insulation would hardly be a problem cost wise - and every few years they increase the depth that they recommend you insulate to.

Just work out the length and width and multiply. They will take back and refund unused rolls.

DONT insulate under your water tank, as this relies on the heat from your house to stop it freezing. However, at this price you could insulate as high as possible round but not beneath the tank, to a point that would not risk rockwool dust getting into the water.

If you have a "coffin tank" that has a vent rather than being left open - you could insulate OVER it, but leave the underside uninsulated. This would offer greater protection against freezing, and offer greater insulation to your home.

The price of the rockwool here is so low - you can afford to 'over use' it.

Deal link returns a 'page not found' message.

Is this the stiff they have in B&Q for £3 a roll?
#24
Just ordered using Internet Explorer.

Many thanks

Rep left for ingenuity (if thats how you spell it).

Anyone that insulates their car with rockwool to cut down road noise deserves it - I just close the windows:p

Great deal BTW
#27
great thanks very much...ordered and hoping for delivery soon. Just need to sort out someone to help fit it!! Npower appear to fit it for £149.
#28
Just be aware that the 170mm only covers 3.36 sq metres.
I was buying 200mm insulation in b&q last year for £3 a roll and that covered 5.4 sq metres.

So yes this is an excellent deal @ £1 and free delivery but there have been offers in diy stores very similar, maybe they will be back this year for even less.

Still hot from me:thumbsup:
#29
Can't seem to order? What am I doing wrong? Just shows up empty basket and nothing stock wise looks vaguely similar?

David

edit : sorry using Firefox, will try IE.

I went right over the flooring in our kitchen loft ( having emptied the junk out) and just stopped using it.

Insulation works by having air pockets (like having layers of clothing rather than just a thick jumper).

If your loft is floored - you can attach the insulation inside your roof - by unrolling it against the slope of the roof to the inside - and using string criss-crossed between nails hammered into the supports for the roof.

If you have already boxed this in - as is often the case in floored lofts that are used as rooms,. you can either remove the plywood you have used entirely and unroll the insulation against the roof, or alternately, remove the highest part of the area you have boxed in, then break off football sized clumps of rockwook - and shove them inside the area you have have boxed in.

Remember you are wanting air pockets - so don't cram it in.
