Is there anything but a 1 gang cord switch??

don't know!!!!!!!!

He means the back box is a 1-gang form factor. In theory one could make a pull-cord switch that screws into a 2-gang back box; but I've never seen one.
#4
To me the description suggests it is a 1gang patress box (laymans terms ; single surface box)
and NOT a pullcord, which in the picture looks like a 45/50amp double-pole switch c/w neon.

These pull-cords (normally used as a shower isolator) are normally £5+ depending where you shop.

If it is a patress only - cold

If it is a patress c/w 45/50amp pull-cord - very hot

not voted myself as yet.

Can OP confirm what he bought ?

You can get 1 gang 2 way and assume op has bought a 1gang 1 way pull switch.

Agree the Wickes site showing A 45amp pull switch . If this is what you get excellent deal but is probably the patress for the switch. Toolstation sell the patress for 83p.

Yeah, I also reckon this is just the pattress as it mentions the depth but not a current rating. They have a 45A switch with box for 12 quid - http://www.wickes.co.uk/45A-Shower-Control-and-Pattress/invt/710419

Still, I guess if we're right, then the picture is highly misleading, so they ought to offer a full refund.

It looks like it is just the patress ( back box ) for this money, no switch included.

Well, on that basis I vote hot then. The other item is 11.99, so maybe 1.19 is a misprice :)

It's always this price! So not a hot deal, I guess. Certainly cheaper than elsewhere, as often are all there electricals. Cold for me.

I bought a cheap switch from Wickes last year. Lights started flickering and had to call out electrician. Cost me. CHEAP FITTINGS ---> FALSE ECONOMY

sorry, you're wrong.

wickes do not normally sell a pattress box & 45amp dp pull-cord for £1.19.

A 45 amp dp pull cord normally costs around £10.50 in my wholesaler.

I wonder will they honour these. If they do i could buy quite a few for the back of the van. I would be gutted though if i bought 10 and they send the pattresses on their own ...

I agree with "melted"

This item is just a patress or back box - ITEM CODE: 710084

They sell the complete patress and switch for £11.99 - ITEM CODE: 710419

http://www.wickes.co.uk/45A-Shower-Control-and-Pattress/invt/710419

So this is freezing cold :p

It seems clear that the confusion has arisen through the poorly-formatted Wickes website; the printed catalogue is much clearer. 710084 is clearly a standard 47mm pattress (square corners) only and the illustration showing the pullswitch is wrong. 710419 is the pullswitch with pattress and should be listed online under 'switches', not 'mounting boxes'.

If the pullswitch with pattress has been bought for £1.19 rather than £11.99, it is either because the packet had the wrong label/code on it or because somene has gone by the incorrect online illustration when charging for it. Either way, a one-off, I fear!

Wickes switches and fittings are of fair quality and a convenient purchase but are no better than the budget ranges from Toolstation or Screwfix etc. I find that the range distributed by CED (and sold thru Toolstation and others) are good value and good quality - perhaps not as good as MK but very much cheaper.
