Definately gonna grab a few when next at ASDA... How can you never get it tasting as good as the pre-made bottles though? :-(

lol, totally agree, not sure why that is!

Personally I've gone off ribena at the moment, I love asda's blackcurrant high juice!

Anyone know if the Rasperry and Pommegranite included? It was the last time it was on offer in Asda

That's great. I'll get some for my neice and stick up. Can't really go wrong at that price.

Good price for Ribena. Once this has gone up again, though, take a look at the LIDL high juice blackcurrant - its juice content makes Ribena look a very poor substitute.
#12
Anyone else noticed, how Ribena is not as concentrated as it was before ?

the ready made drinks are defo much lighter now, with less taste, AND more expensive.........

Ribena is only good now, if u mix it yourself.............

I bought a bottle of Ribena last week and could not believe how weak it was ,Iv'e been using the blackcurrant from aldi and Lidl and its much stronger than Ribena.I had to put far more Ribena in a glass of Lager than i do with Lidl or Aldis. and there around £1-10 a bottle all the time.
#14
Heck Cats great minds think a like only a minute apart,Yes its much more diluted now than it used to be the Aldi or Lidl ones are how Ribena used to be.

This does include the raspberry and pomegranate, it is for all varieties.

The LIDL equivalent is 50% blackcurrant juice. What does the Ribena label show?

This pensioner yesterday picked up a 2 litre bottle which was priced at £4.37. I was going to tell him about the offer for 2 of the litre bottles for £2 but the moment was gone and I didn't want to feel like I was stalking him.

Ribena concentrate is 5% but their fruit juice is 100%.
I doubt any dilute is going to be 50%, I think you ought to revisit. It is probably not dilute because fruit juice does not dilute but concentrate does? :whistling:

This might help clarify:

From the Ribena concentrate label -

After dilution 1 part with 4 parts water:
Water, Sugar, Glucose Fructose Syrup, Blackcurrant Juice from Concentrate (5%), Citric Acid, Vitamin C, Preservatives (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Bisulphite), Colour (Anthocyanins). Product before dilution contains 22% juice.

From the LIDL concentrate label (before dilution) -

Blackcurrant Juice from Concentrate (50%), Sugar, Glucose Fructose Syrup, Water, Vitamin C, Citric Acid, Flavouring, Preservatives (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Metabisulphite)

So Ribena concentrate contains 22% blackcurrant juice from concentrate, and LIDL concentrate contains 50% blackcurrant juice from concentrate. The LIDL version is a lot cheaper than Ribena, but contains more than twice as much juice.

Beats me how Ribena get away with this, but I suppose some people like the comfort of a big brand!
