Went down B&Ms Brierley Hill and to my surprise they were selling Masterplug 1 Metre HDMI to HDMI cables for less than £2. Couldnt see it listed so i thought i'd let you guys know :) Works just as good as any other cable ive used. Really cant argue for this

Thats more like it!! none of that gold plated £50 rubbish!!

Great find - just pay attention to the length - made the mistake myself of buying an 1.8m HDMI in the past when I really needed 2.4m+.

exactly mate, i've seen some places sell em for over £100. makes no difference, at the end of the day the cable carries 1s and 0s. you either get a signal or you don't

Good price but looks like it may be that specific store. I was in my local b&m yesterday and there weren't any in there at all at any price.

You won't get a very good picture with a £1.99 HDMI cable

well to be honest they were well hidden away in the store by me near the hair dryers etc, had lots in stock. tempted to buy a few and sell em on tbh

My brother bought a hdmi cable for £50 and I bought 1 from ebay for around £2.50 from ebay there was no difference in quality and my brother couldnt tell which cable was which when I asked him to guess what I was using. A few months ago the gadget show reviewed a £90 hdmi compared to a £10 cable and they couldnt tell the difference between them as its a digital signal. The only thing that an expensive hdmi cable will give you is that the cable will look nicer but as my cables are behind my plasma theres no point. There are lots of threads on the net about this

Spot on mate your absolutly correct, its a digital cable so there is no difference, its like saying if you conect a camera with a more expensive usb cable the picture will be sharper with the more expensive cable which is nonsense.

You're quite right - but I think Medders was winding you up when he said "You won't get a good picture with a £1.99 cable".
As has been said the main thing to look out for is the length - 1m isn't long and you don't want to risk straining the connectors when you move stuff around.

I used to think that was correct- but its more complicated than that.

All HDMI cables are the same. The data transferred is digital not analogue so no loss in quality.

Gold plated is also a gimmick

Remember that the wires inside your equipment (tv, pc, ps3 etc) are not gold plated or made from some special £50 wires.

Voted hot .even though I think 1m is too short. I got mine off ebay for about the same price and are 2-3m long

and you believe everything on the gadget show.....says alot about you then....

their reviews are poor.....i mean the review of the best handheld console - apple iphone 3g, nintendo ds, sony psp.....and the pathetic bunch thought the iphone was the best for games but no reason why...no, seriously....lololol....its ok, but total rubbish compared to the other 2...i have the ds, iphone 3g but the not psp...personally prefer the ds as i like its simplicity and battery life and bigger selection of games but the psp is good. the iphone is a very long long way behind with lots of poor games i wouldnt pay 1p for.
i like the gadegt show but their reviews are laughable and they dont know very much for so called experts and dont know very much.

They should call gadget show for dummies

hot for an instore price (assuming there's one near you), but I got a 1m HDMI 1.3 cable off ebay last week for £0.99 inc shipping. (and not sent from china)
#21
For anybody needing a longer cable, try PLAY. I got a 5m HDMI cable for £5.85 delivered from one of the playtrade partners called Cablestar, It arrived within 2 days and turned out to be a Belkin.
#22
btw guys just to remind you these cables only a metre so if your TVs near your equipment its all good, if not i'd probably get a bigger one

I have an HDMI splitter box so i bought a few of these :)

I used to work in IT, & the quality of cable & length with high bandwidth connections can make a difference. With ethernet there are different standards of cable. We used to have to test this after an installation, as long lengths of lower cat standard could in some cases increase data error rates, slowing down connection speeds. HDMI data rates are quite high, but for over 1 meter length, yes it's not going to make a difference.

This is incorrect.

A 1m digital cable compared with an equivalent length, you will not be able to tell any difference.

The quality aspects of a digital cable comes in over longer lengths. I would say at least 5m before you can start comparing quality differences.

In most home environments 2m generally tends to suffice, so makes sense to buy as economoically as you can.

Smilies have been broken for weeks for me.

The smilies each seem to work at random too.
