i dont care much for grammar. and it makes me laugh, when someone has to stoop so low as to point it out to someone on a message board.

It makes me laugh that you have to start an argument over a message board, keyboard warrior.

Don't forget - if you use the Marketplace to buy your subscription it will automatically renew and the only way to cancel it is to call Microsofts India callcentre and hope you get someone who can be arsed to help you.

It should be the law that if you offer subs electronically then people should be able to cancel electronically - this is just a cheap practice by MS to milk you.

You could just remove your card details after so they cant use it
#23
sorry cant find it!
#24
I too was put off by the fact that they will automatically charge your card unless you cancel. If you buy a year's subscription from some places it works out at less than £3 a month anyway.

Wrronnnng, you can turn off auto renewal on xbox.com
#33
All I have is "Get 50% off Gold" - £7.50 for three months!
#34
Its not as good as made out. I was on the phone to microsoft after the auto renewal started to rob me blind. (Note - must safer and cheaper to buy from online sites than microsoft)

This offer and the same offer on XBOX Live marketplace at mo is 50% off XBOX lIve 3 months for only £7.50. Both these offers are only open to XBOX Live Silver Members only and can only be taken advantage of once per gamertag. Once redeemed you canot take advantage of offer again. I tried and get getting system error, when speaking to Microsoft they stated its because I already took offer and cannot redeem any more on this account.

Microsoft are not one to let people take advantage and grab vast amounts of bargains

Also from Microsoft Xbox Tech Helpline (Not really a helpline) but they have removed the online option of you being able to turn off auto renewal on your own account. I couldnt even remove card I had to ring up and they cancelled service for me so Icould rmeove card. Would only let me remove card if I added a second and then charged my new card £1.95 authorisaton fee, as it was a post pre pay master card it took over 3 weeks to have that credite dback on.

Be warned not all deals are what they are led to believe. This came directly from an micorosft rep on phone
#35
Voted cold purely because its Microsoft and they typical tactics to make money. Buy my xbox cards online now safer. Doesnt take 2 minutes to type in code online and you can enter as many as you want and they stack up, did it on my sons with about 20 48hr ones beginning of year.

No you cant

Just tested it again on mine. Had microsoft helpline rmeove it. Just logged in account now and clicked link to TURN ONautomatic renewal. Page refreshed, went back into account and hey presto auto renewal on. Tried to turn it off but no luck, no link or option. Guess ring them back up to turn it off

So better get your facts straight before posting

After auto-renewal on xbox 1, Microsoft are never getting my credit card details again. I'd recommend anyone that has used credit cards to make a note of the card used and the last 4 digits. I had to call again and again over 3 days to cancel my sub (they were blocking my number I think after the first call).
The credit card I'd used about 3 years previous had expired and was long gone, but they were still managing to withdraw from my account, and I needed cards last 4 digits to cancel and to transfer to 360 account.
#38
how is this deal not -100 odd? when had my xbox i paid £28 for 13mth subscription online somewhere.was a while ago so could be bit less now.dont risk this crazy scam peeps.

Why don't you phone your credit card company and tell them about this activity thats blocking you from removing your card details from an untrusted site.
#40
When did they change this? I've always paid monthly (more costly I know, but I like the flexibility) and have always used xbox.com to turn off automatic renewal! This is total BS

Even their own help page says:

Cancel Your Xbox LIVE Membership

To cancel your Xbox LIVE membership, please sign in to your account at http://www.xbox.com/accounts and cancel automatic renewal, or call Xbox Support.

When you disable automatic renewal, your current Xbox LIVE Gold membership will not automatically renew at the end of its term.

Pfft :x
