  Yea they tend to just offer these deals to silver members, by the way just to note after the first month is up this will renew at the full price which I believe for a 1 month is £5.99 (?) and in order to turn off auto renewal you now need to ring up xbox customer support to cancel.
  
  However here’s a handy tip on how to turn off auto renewal without having to call their support line. As it turns out, Illinois passed a law that requires internet gaming service providers to have an online method to cancel the service so:
  
  • Go to the account page
  • Go to Billing Account Information and change the address to somewhere in Illinois
  • Back on the account page, go to Manage Payment Options
  • Edit the credit card's billing info to be somewhere in Chicago
  • Back on the account page, click Upgrade/Manage Account
  • Under your avatar where it says Automatic Renewal: On, the On should be a link, click it.
  • You are going to have to click next quite a few times but eventually it will give you the option to turn auto renewal off.

  oh you.. haha.. I wanted the Fifa 12 demo but wasn't gold and as I rarely use my Xbox nowadays didn't wanna pay for 12 months just to get it, so I made a new gamertag to get a months free to get the demo and now it works on my normal silver account.. even though I rarely use xbox might get this while it's a quid, I spend more on my dinner from Greggs.

  Guys I don't know if you've checked lately but it is nowhere near as complicated as dodgydonkey is making out to cancel the autorenew on your live subscription. Not anymore at least - you're making OPs deal seem a lot less appealing!
  
  To cancel autorenewal:
  
  - Sign in to Xbox.com
  - Click 'My Account' at the top, just below your Gamerscore
  - Next to Xbox Live Autorenewal click 'Change'
  - Press Next, then switch Autorenewal to 'Off' and click 'Confirm.

  The best way to ensure no auto-renewal is to pay through paypal and then you can cancel the subscription on the paypal website. Just set it up as a payment method on xbox.com
