Yea they tend to just offer these deals to silver members, by the way just to note after the first month is up this will renew at the full price which I believe for a 1 month is £5.99 (?) and in order to turn off auto renewal you now need to ring up xbox customer support to cancel.

However here’s a handy tip on how to turn off auto renewal without having to call their support line. As it turns out, Illinois passed a law that requires internet gaming service providers to have an online method to cancel the service so:

• Go to the account page
• Go to Billing Account Information and change the address to somewhere in Illinois
• Back on the account page, go to Manage Payment Options
• Edit the credit card's billing info to be somewhere in Chicago
• Back on the account page, click Upgrade/Manage Account
• Under your avatar where it says Automatic Renewal: On, the On should be a link, click it.
• You are going to have to click next quite a few times but eventually it will give you the option to turn auto renewal off.

All credit for finding this method goes to eltacodeldiablo.

oh you.. haha.. I wanted the Fifa 12 demo but wasn't gold and as I rarely use my Xbox nowadays didn't wanna pay for 12 months just to get it, so I made a new gamertag to get a months free to get the demo and now it works on my normal silver account.. even though I rarely use xbox might get this while it's a quid, I spend more on my dinner from Greggs.

Guys I don't know if you've checked lately but it is nowhere near as complicated as dodgydonkey is making out to cancel the autorenew on your live subscription. Not anymore at least - you're making OPs deal seem a lot less appealing!

To cancel autorenewal:

- Sign in to Xbox.com
- Click 'My Account' at the top, just below your Gamerscore
- Next to Xbox Live Autorenewal click 'Change'
- Press Next, then switch Autorenewal to 'Off' and click 'Confirm.

Piece of cake! And nice deal OP, heat added.

Cheers for the heads up! One month and cancelled autorenew!
#14
The best way to ensure no auto-renewal is to pay through paypal and then you can cancel the subscription on the paypal website. Just set it up as a payment method on xbox.com

My xbox live expires on the 17th. I'm assuming xbox live expires 1 minute before midnight, probably the same time as this deal?

I've got this offer even though I'm currently on a two-month Gold membership (bought for 1 quid a month). I haven't taken it up yet as it's not clear if it will add a month on to my existing membership, or will it turn what I have into one month and erase the two months I've already got? If that makes any sense?
#17
Bought, thanks, +heat! Auto renewal was easy to cancel on xbox.com as well

Crap, it was offering it to me for the past couple of weeks and was still on earlier today. I just went back in...and it's gone. ;(

Edit: Signed out and back in, and there it was! What's more, it added 7 weeks instead of one month!

You don't have to do all of the illinois bit anymore - the option to turn it off is now available under the standard account options - I do it frequently from the UK

It seems the reverse is true. Last month when I got the 2 months for 2 quid, everyone said you can just go to your profile and click off auto payment. Since my account is a US one, it won't let me do that and I will have to call to cancel.
banned#33
I have the 2months for £2 which I got couple weeks ago, I tried searching for this offer but nothing on my dash. Tried another console which already has gold membership and nothing on that either.

Wish I could get another month added on

Some of the above deals are interesting like a few years for 28quid but after playing on the xbox with my nephew...cripes...i really have been put off. i read gears of war is now mainly played by potty mouthed kids online and having now experienced it..its not for me.

I don't game online either, but at this low a price it's worth it to be eligible for the weekly deals that are only for Gold members.

There's usually some form of incentive for Silver members but for people who might not turn their Xbox on that regularly putting these up is a good way to alert them to that fact. Plus the fact it's already at 300 degrees means SOME people found it helpful, even if you didn't.

Definitely not the case, I cancelled mine two days ago (it was that 40% off deal that was about to auto-renew at full price) and received a confirmation e-mail telling me I'd cancelled my membership. On top of that no money has been taken from my account. They'd be in serious trouble too for even giving you the option of turning it off and then going ahead and renewing it anyway...
#38
Thanks if this is on my xbox i will buy this to play GOW 3 online

These dashboard deals are very subjective.... so do we vote hot?
It's hot for the person who posted it and a select few.
I did the pound a month thing for the last few months runs out in 5 days though.
