Why are meat sausages cheaper than vegetarian sausages?

These £1 deals are regular offers. Give or take a penny these are as low as they go and I regard these as usual prices. The full prices are the times when not to buy.

vegetarian sausages don't walk themselves to the kill floor.

Wife went shopping this morning and paid £1.99 at Tesco for Quorn mince! Doh!

These deals are definitely not regular! We're always looking for the Quorn stuff on offer, but it never comes up. It did used to be more frequent, so I definitely appreciate the post! (Although we went to Asda today and they were full price?)

You can usually pick up quorn products at reduced prices at one of the big supermarkets, I think that's what common sense might be getting at.

I had to buy some at full price before Xmas but it's the first time I've done so for a long time.

Also with sausages they come in different sizes/different size packages depending where they're bought from so deals need scrutinising closely IME. Still voted hot as it's appreciated someone bringing it to my attention :)

Quorn mince will be £1 from tomorrow at Tesco too.

If, like me, you're into eating Quorn, get their Cook Book as it's excellent with some right tasty recipes.

People are veggie for different reasons. They may like the taste, but not agree with the animals being bred and killed specifically for people to eat. I, like many veggies, can't fully admit to disliking the smell of bacon being cooked.

I'm constantly amazed at people like you. A large number of vegetarians (I'd guess the vast majority of them but don't know for sure) are vegetarian because of the principle that animals shouldn't be killed unnecessarily. Therefore, they may like meat (I like meat but don't eat it because of that principle) and want to eat something similar but more ethical.

If you stop and think about it that's like saying "why do non-murderers like watching films where people get killed"? Quorn is obviously fake meat, and film is obviously fake reality - vegetarians are capable of rational thought!

Funnily enough i picked up my very first bag of Quorn Chicken pieces for a quid in Asda yesterday and just half an hour ago made a stir fry , it was absolutely delicious !!
Im definitely not a veggie and only bought it because it was cheaper than real chicken and because i get home late i wanted something quick to cook . Im heading down to "The" Asda tomorrow for another 5 bags . Fungi is welcome in my freezer any time now.

Agree 100% - the mince really isn't that great - Realeat VegeMince or even the supermarkert own brand vegemince is far nicer IMHO.

It's not just vegetarians that eat quorn though. I use it as it's almost fat free and is a great alternative to normal fatty/grisly mince.

Why shape and flavour meat?
