Before I spend this amount on a media player, I'd get a cheap laptop with HDMI out. At least then I wont have any problems with file compatibility and I can download the latest codes (updating the codes is always a problem with these mediaplayers because there always files which wont play)

A laptop at £185 won't have enough grunt for 1080p.

A better option if you want to go down the PC route is something like an ex-corp Dell 745 SFF. for under £100 on fleabay. Nearly as small as one of these but running an intel 965 chipset. E6600 or Q6600 with a cheap HDMI graphics card. Make good HTPC's....

Shame it doesn't support .mkv aswell, then it would be worth the money.

Looks overpriced to me.

802.11g isn't fast enough for HD and no mkv supports means it won't play back the majority of HD content. It also has no 1080p source support.

I suggest you look at Popcorn Hour of similar NMT devices.

A 1TB disc is around £60 so basically this is £125.

Voted cold really as if it can't do mkv files it is basically worthless.

Get a WDTV Live, or one of the realtek players, AC Ryan, Asus O! play, Hisense or Meade8tor etc.

If you do need the wireless for SD material then £125 is too much anyway.
