Step 3: Click “Next step” next to the Mobile number on the “Manage My Mobile” page in “My Account”.
Step 4: On the next page click on “Yes I have received my ticket”.
Step 5: Your mobile phone is now registered and you can book tickets on the E-Fulfilment web site.
If you cannot receive the ticket or are unable to read the message:
Step 3: Click “Next step” next to the Mobile number on the “Manage My Mobile” page in “My Account”.
Step 4: On the next page click on “No I did not receive my ticket”.

Does anyone know if this train stops at Birmingham?

If so, can I buy a ticket from London Euston to Manchaster and alight at Birmingham?
Also can this be done on the return leg too? i.e. Birmingham to London?

Thx

No it doesn't. It goes via a combination of stockport crewe stoke-on-trent and watford....maybe a couple others

16. Starting, breaking or ending a journey at intermediate stations

You may start, or break and resume, a journey (in either direction in the case of a
return ticket) at any intermediate station, as long as the ticket you hold is valid for
the trains you want to use. You may also end your journey (in either direction in
the case of a return ticket) before the destination shown on the ticket. However,
these rights may not apply to some types of tickets for which a break of journey is
prohibited, in which case the relevant Train Companies will make this clear in their
notices and other publications.
If you start, break and resume, or end your journey
at an intermediate station when you are not entitled to do so, you will be liable to pay an excess fare.
This
excess fare will be the difference between the price paid for the ticket you hold
and the price of the lowest priced ticket(s) available for immediate travel that
would have entitled you to start, break and resume, or end your journey at that
station on the service(s) you have used.

The best of luck to anyone trying to get the deal - I've been charged 4 times for my trip and no tickets have been issued. I've spent 2 hours on the 'phone being passed around to be told that because their computer has made a made a mistake any attempts to access my account now will be treated as fraudulent and no tickets will be issued - this happens apparently when several failed trys have be made.

So I can no longer get the deal online, the tickets I want can be bought using the telpehone but at over 10 times the price and I'll have to wait 10 days to get back all the money I've paid so far but that will not include the cost incurred for the 2 hours I've spent being passed around the world on an 0845 number.

Hopefully you'll all have better luck!

Not bad if you get it though.
#14
hey Worfthedog, next time don't call the 0845 number, check out www.saynoto0870.com first and maybe they can give u a landline number :-)

No.

Virgin's PIC-EUS services will Call at Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke On Trent & Normally Watford, though some may call at the trent valley stations and/or rugby & Milton Keynes. As above, some do go via Crewe but not many at the moment.
#19
samsun, synergies & emasu...thx for the info.

worfthedog...sorry to hear that.
Hope u get ur money back.

Though this is a cracking deal, which I did manage to book the last time when Virgin Trains were issuing tickets via email. However, I agree that the new bookings via MOBILES ONLY really sucks! Let's hope they fix their booking systems soon.
#20
The limited number of services usually stop at Stockport, Macclesfield or Stoke -on-Trent for picking up passengers and stop at Watford for dropping off passengers. I've used this service many times since its first trial, just remember to read the terms and connditions fully as failure to comply will result in you being charged the full fare which is (I believe) £112 single.
#21
Anyone got a contact number to contact them?
#22
this mobile booking system is terrible. I finally get WAP going on my phone and now it says the test ticket contains errors and cant be downloaded. Im trying to re-do it all but am receiving nothing. What was wrong with the old print out system??

If this works my trip will cost £8 return. If not Ill have to get an Young persons open return for over £40 :(

Booked my Birmingham ticket on national express (Trains)
They use the virgin trains for this route.
But when I checked this route on the virgin trains website, they quoted £10 more!

Here's a great site that displays all stops on the train/coach route you intend to take.
transportdirect.info
This site can sort results by the cheapest fare or fastest route and it even plots your entire journey and route with stops on a map!

The whole thing's a bloody con. There is only train leaving Manchester at this price, other than late in the evening, and the first return is 6 days later. Voted cold.

And the ones that are available, you cant order because of the Mobile thing.

Has "anyone at all" ordered successfully?

Easy.. Dont book a return ticket.. just book a single journey to the destination and then book another single journey back!!

I've used this site many many times over the past year and booked like this with no probs.
HOT HOT HOT! its just a shame they dont do tickets for weekends any more.

Thanks for that - I always forget that site.

I note that the Virgin site when bookmarked says it's a trial!

Didnt work for me. :x

Well I get the exact same message about the critical error once putting in my card details.

Waited a couple of hours and no text so I called them.

Then I was given another number to call specific for mobitix so called that number. Pressed the correction options for Mobitix and got the message "Our offices are now closed. We are open ..... Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 7pm". It was 3pm.

This enraged me for a start so rang back and pressed the options for another department. Got through and explained it wasn't getting through and guy put me on hold whilst he investigated. He never came back to me.

I redialled and got through to the most obnoxious woman. Explained it wasn't letting me through to Mobitix helpline and she said "we can't help with your problem here just give a number to call." She then proceeded to quote me the exact same number I had just called which I explained to which her response was "anything else I can help you with?". I said "yes, you can find out why I can't get through to mobitix". She just kept saying she cannot help with my problem. I ended up hanging up on her.

Redialled the number (again!) and went through to technical problems line and explained the situation but didn't mention mobitix this time - he only realised it was mobitix when he asked for my booking reference. He said that they were having serious problems with their online booking system and it should be resolved by Sunday and to call back then after 11am.

The money has definitely been taken off my card for my ticket but, on the mobitix site, it says under "ticket status" - "failed".

I reckon they shut down the mobitix customer service line because of the problems and all the people calling about it rather than being there to admit there was a problem.

i will update with a progress report once I have spoken to them in the morning.

I wonder why they removed the facility to print your own tickets with this selection of tickets - up until now you have always been able to print them or have them on your mobile phone.

Don't be surprised if you hear about somebody getting arrested on a Virgin Train on Tuesday for trying to travel without a ticket
