I realise that this deal wont be any use to most of you as it's specific to the Horsham store, but I thought it was too good not to share!

Today only (Monday 21st June) Bookends in Horsham are doing a carrier bag full of books (as much as you can cram in until bag splits!) for just £10.

Anyone local who can get there - go get yourself a bargain!

Might as well bin in another country, so far away from me. lol

Voted hot though, cos' a bag crammed full with books sounds like a mega deal for a tenner!

How big's the bag though I wonder?
#2
It's a standard sized carrier bag, like one you would get in a supermarket but thankfully much stronger!

Is this another book store closing down then.............?
They'll be none left soon-except Waterstones.
No independent ones left really.
Sorry to bring the tone down............heavy.
Voted hot 'cause it's a bargain.

Yes, it's closing down. Shame :(

I live in Horsham. Went in here a couple of months ago and it was really dire. Awful books. Looked more like a jumble sale than a bookshop.

If this is the standard of store that we are losing, good riddance. Shame though. It was in a good loaction so with a bit of effort, care and creative marketing, I am sure it could have survived.

books are a dying medium. same with papers. books are worthless once bought too, they sell for like 50p on a car boot, youre best off going there lol.

down the local library they sell their old books at 1.50 for a carrier bag full although there is rarely anything worth taking away.

could have a book sale myself, got that many of them. I'm trying to sell them, maybe I should just open up my house give everyone a carrier bag and say fill it for a tenner :)

Could try your luck with Green Metropolis. Apparently, they can take a while to shift though.

I buy my books from Poundland, some crackers there. Though if it was in my area I'd be tempted to have a rummage..

About 20 years ago I used to buy from charity shops to save me a few quid and paid more than I do at good ole Poundland!

used to live there, shame i live in devon now. bit of a trek for some books

Bookends was a great remainder shop. shame im no near there and sad to see it close. Even cookery , travel and wildlife books are worth getting at this price. Voted hot.

Quite frankly "£10 for a bag of books" doesn't attract me at all.
There are books...and there are books.
What kind of titles are we talking about here?
Are you allowed to choose any books in the shop, or is your choice restricted?
Haven't voted either way.

Late reply 'ere... I don't see how it is :?

Newspapers are becoming a dying medium, but I don't think the same has applied to books. Sales aren't down, and there will always be popular and pulp fiction that clutters car boot sales. However - those books had to be originally purchased somewhere... As for resale value - depends on the book. It's like saying cars are worthless. Advances in technology haven't even made them obsolete due to disadvantages in displays when reading compared to print (slower word intake, less comprehension) and prohibitive cost. Academical print hasn't decreased either to the best of my knowledge. So nope, don't think books are a dying medium at all, they're one of the most permanent.
