I've never found a universal remote that's remotely universal. None of the three I've got handle anything but the basic functions (on/off, channel, volume, sometimes teletext (teletext?)) for our TVs. If you want full funtionality either get a £100+++ programmable one or spend a tenner on ebay and get the proper remote.

The Lidl/Aldi ones work pretty well, and there's a limited number of slots for you to learn commands from your existing remotes if they don't set up automatically from the codes. Some of the button mappings are a bit bizarre, though, and they are a pain to program compared with Logitech Harmony remotes (which used to be able to be had for £25, before the 525 was discontinued).

If you just need a replacement compatible-but-third-party standalone remote, I've found Grandata to be pretty good.
