I know times are tough, but can't we just spend a few extra pence so that a life isn't spent in a box?

We have ex battery hens as pets, if you'd seen the state they were in when we got them you wouldn't say that, they didn't even have any feathers

What makes this world horrible are the heartless evil people who think that animals deserve to be treated cruelly and the greedy supermarkets who put profit before morality.

Thanks for being brave enough to use the word morality. Few people dare today since taking a moral position on one thing will put you in opposition to another.

Save the chicken lol they are living creatures too, even if they taste good

Same here...never thought we'd think of the girls as pets but we do.Wonderful fresh eggs...you can't beat em...if you know what I mean.

Cheap eggs smell and taste of fishmeal that the chickens are fed on in pallet form. Puts me right off my pudding. Avoid.

Classic, the money you wasted, on so called "free range eggs" could have fed a family in Africa, by your own reasoning I guess that makes you a heartless evil person ?

Unless the welfare of chickens rate more highly in your moral code than the welfare of mankind, may I suggest you hop off the soap box ;)

While I think keeping battery hens is extremely cruel (I have had chickens since I can remember) I also used to work on a Chicken Farm which was 'free range' status and believe me, I saw some things and the hens didn't look that much better condition than battery hens. Of course in a perfect world we wouldn't keep anything in small cages but this goes for chickens, pigs, sheep, turkeys, ducks etc

Obviously if you can afford to pay more then do it, the sooner there is no market the sooner this will stop, but Farmers are being pushed to lower prices so they have the make the cuts somewhere :/

Rant Over :D

Oh the usual narrow minded comment from your typical Sun reader whi has probably never contributed to charity in their life. Animal welfare and human welfare are not mutually exclusive but form part of the same regard for decent humanity.
