I bought a cable 30m from e-bay. I wanted to make small cables out of it. I cut the cable to see cheaply manufactured cable. There is no nylon string (Angels Hair) in it. The inner cables were thinne like hair and I dont think they were even copper. I would say if you are trying to achieve gigabit over cat5e go for something better. From outside most of these cables look shiny and nice.

The cheap cat5e and even cat6 ones are aluminium, usually with an ultra thin copper coating (known as CCA).
Thanks for that. If I want to drive 90mins to get expensive CAT5 cable I'll know where to go.
