just booked and got discount too brill

Not good for NXEC Edinburgh to London. Scotrail price for my dates £21.30 but NXEC website offered a couple of trains from £14.50. Might work better for other routes!

I'd definitely prefer this 10% off to my own attempt with Trainline and Quidco last month. The tickets arrived printed on a printer that was working about 60% so tickets almost illegible, and the transaction never tracked though was in the quidco log and as under £1 quidco can/will do nothing. Last time I buy from Trainline via Quidco!

doesn't work with young persons railcard =(

I thought it was hot, then saw that further railcard discounts don't apply.... my railcard gets me 33% on tickets so I would be worse off with this deal. sorry

The link given is some sort of profit making referal link?
To get to the site directly use this link:

Caparn1: your link does not give the 10% discount. You need to go through Scotrail survey link at head of my post to get the 10% off!

Cracking deal for those without railcards, rep added!

Sorry I didn't realise you had to go through the link to get the discount.

No good for me since I save a third with Railcard anyway... but good deal anyway.

Agree with the Trainline/Quidco comment. Trainline now adding £1 to post and 50p to use a card (that's any card - even a debit card) and Quidco doesnt track. So National Train Inquiries booking or Scotrail for me.

Not available in Northern Ireland though :(

Link still works fine. If you are getting the 'resource timed out message' simply close your web browser and start afresh.
#21
It's just expired now but it's not for every train journey in GB - some you have to book via particular companies.

No, I didn't know that either, but I have just been told on the phone that that is why the website refuses to allow you to book certain journeys.
#22
I have just bought some more train tickets this evening...so still working even though the blurb I was sent said it was supposed to finish end of yesterday!

pibpob: I am curious to know which journeys you could not book via this site?
#23
Thanks devilish. I suppose I fell into the "resource timed out" trap but trying a different browser didn't help.

The journey is London to Norwich via Ipswich next weekend, when there are engineering works so the default journey is from King's Cross via Cambridge which costs a bomb (as does everything going anywhere near Cambridge it seems!). If you tell it to go via Ipswich it comes up with some very odd journey times involving the replacement buses, with arrivals happening before departures, and it won't let you book them. I assumed it was incorrect times being entered into the system that was causing the failure to book, but was told by National Rail this evening that those journeys can only be booked with National Express East Anglia. I expressed my surprise, but she was insistent.

Seems the system cannot cope with unusual events then pibbob. Scotrail, as with most train operators, use Trainline for their booking system...so anything you can do with them you can do via Scotrail (but without the credit card fee!).

I never use Trainline - in fact, I always use Scotrail because they deserve my business due to their offers (remember the half price one a couple of years ago?).

I have just tried Trainline to see what it can do. What a nasty company - not only does it tick the "I want to give £1 of pure profit to Columbus" box by default (other companies are decent enough not to tick this box for you) but it charges £1 to post tickets or 50p to pick them up at a station! Both of these options are free with other companies.

As expected, it still shows broken data - leave Liverpool Street at 1310 on 7th and arrive in Norwich at 1252!

Unfortunately it would not let me get through the process without registering so I do not know if it can indeed book any of these journeys, but the 10:08 departure I am wanting to book isn't even listed!
