Morrisons opened a store in Worksop today. If you can stomach a trip to such a hell hole, they are handing out the new 'Morrisons Bonus Card' loyalty cards.

It says 5% off everything, but is scanned at 10% off (probably today only).

Not sure if it works either at all, or at 5% off in other Morrisons - I'll try later on and report back.

I'm assuming 'everything' does not include gift vouchers and top ups etc etc, but did take 10% off already reduced prices and offers.

I've done it as a national deal because I think the cards work everywhere.

** Double Discount Day today - 10% off everything at all Morrisons stores and maybe kiddicare too! **

** 10% OFF UNTIL APRIL 28TH, THEN 5% TIL JUNE.

** 10% again today - 1st may.

10% extended til 25th may, and includes Kiddicare stores.

Cards extended til 31st August!!

Currently: 10% off!

Back to 5%

I wonder why these things can't be used on infant milk. We spend loads on it there, having baby twins (the wife's boobies just can't keep up with demand!).

If they're worried about unscrupulous people tampering with it, why not just ban it from being returned - and tampering could apply to any food or drink product anyway.

The Bonus Card cannot be used on purchases of cash back, tobacco, fireworks, bonus stamps, postage stamps, infant milk/formula, gift vouchers, gift cards, lottery online game and instant tickets, ‘top-up’ mobile, phone cards, e top-up, photo printing, prescription medicines, fuel and purchases made within the Petrol Filling Station, Café, Dry Cleaners or Pharmacy. Discount cannot be claimed as part of our Fuel Saver promotion when purchasing Gift Cards. Excludes purchases online or via our mobile apps.

Also, some maybe bad news.

It expires 01/06/2014, but I'm pretty sure the woman in the shop said after June you'll get sent a new card if you register it - but I suspect that will be the actual morrisons card they are launching soon, and probably won't have anything like 5% off :P

Apologies for the duff info, it seems like this maybe something they do at all new store openings or something?

The Leeds store (not a new one) did this a couple of months ago. Makes things like the recent 25% off 6 bottles of wine offer even better :)

Indeed, and 5% off could be quite a bit - especially as Kiddicare is included as well. So what's the story with the cards? Do you just have to be in the right store at the right time?

All I can find are people selling them on ebay....

I also got given a trolley token thing, but thought better of posting that as a deal :p

For the Leeds one, everyone (I assume) in a large area of Leeds got a letter posted to them with the card enclosed. A very welcome gift :)

Desperate measures from a desperate company. My OH has a staff discount card which gives 10% off all the time,we still do most of our shopping at Aldi. They do have certain days of the year when its 20%.We tend to stock up on those days.

Don't get too carried away.

This is a staff discount card. You'll see staff discount on your receipt. It is 5% but 10% for a couple of days from its inception until June.

They were sent to staff to give to friends and family as a nudge to shop at Morrisons.

I've been using mine now for quite a while.

And yes it will work at any store.

I think it's due to legislation to prevent the encouragement of using inflant milk as opposed to breastfeeding. There are similar restriction with Tesco and their money off coupons/Clubcard points, etc.

So, is this a staff discount card or not?

So, basically just in-store purchase of food and soaps?

As stated above, it comes up on receipt as Staff Discount, but its available to anyone - providing you can find one or get given one.

No. It's a discount card that anyone can get (if they're lucky (as in the shop in the OP) or if they get one sent to them (me :))). It goes through the tills showing 'staff discount' as it was easier to program their IT systems to show this.

Food, alcohol and most non-food they sell with the exception of those above.

A card, well, staff were sent 3, to give to non staff members to get them to shop at Morrisons.

Looks like they're giving it out at new stores to encourage you to switch, and by the sounds of the other poster also struggling stores.

They had a similar card a year or two ago.

It is against the law to give savings on infant milks...that's why you will sometimes see "toddler milk" on offers but never infant milks. It's the same everywhere - Boots won't give you Advantage Card points on it and you don't get Clubcard points on it at Tesco either. It's to do with promoting breastfeeding.

I thought the infant milk thing was because it was already price controlled. Also you're not allowed to bulk buy it because supermarkets are supposed to always have stock of it. So they aren't allowed to run promotions that encourage bulk buying and I think most places you can only buy like 2 tins at once. The point is so that you can't go to the supermarket because you need it and them not have it, because if you couldn't feed your baby that would be very bad.

I've ordered one off of ebay, at £4 and my average weekly shopping of about £100 it will more than pay for it self on the first shop

Very creative that it is named the same as the Iceland loyalty card. I wonder which came first if this tarted off as a staff discount card?

Anyone know if you still get the bonus week vouchers when using this card?
