I have just been told about a great deal, although local for people in and around the Nottingham Area.

As some of you may know there is a brand new Pc World open in the Trinity Square complex of Nottingham.

To promote this opening the store has been running 10% student discount across the whole range, (which no other PC World store does).

However this weekend the store will be doing 10% off across the whole range for EVERYONE. (No catches)

That includes all PC's and Laptops. TV's, Apple Mac's, Digital Camera's and all software and accessories.

This means that you can take most electronic items away cheaper than you can from most websites. There are no catches (i.e you don't need a student card) and there are the normal range of finances available.

Thought I would use my new Macbook Pro that I got for £810 instead of £899 to make my first post. So please go easy :)

As far as I have been told it is just for this coming weekend only. Although the instore leaflets do say that student discount is on for the end of the month.

Just to Stress I believe this to be this one store only, and it is not a country wide promotion.

That says the 10% off for students.......... this is telling people about 10% OFF for EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

10% off vastly over-inflated prices = slightly over-inflated prices. I can't think of a single thing that couldn't be found cheaper elsewhere, even with 10% off.

I can see why they're doing this though, that store's always empty. Doesn't help that the staff in that store are particularly clueless, I've yet to receive a sensible (or even partially correct) answer from a single one of them.

I have to say i was perfectly delighted with my service from the store and thought the staff couldn't do enough for me. Maybe you are just one of those people with IT disorder that thinks they know better than everyone else and even if they rolled out a red carpet you wouldn't be happy. With 10% off all laptops and macs and the fact you can walk away with them there and then, you show me a website than offers better service :)

IT disorder :giggle: if by that you mean when I hear the words "this laptop's more expensive because 1024MB of RAM is more than 2GB" I cringe, then yeah, lol. When I was at college I actually worked for DSG, so I know from both sides of the counter exactly what their "customer service" is like. Lots of great salesmen, but those with any degree of technical knowledge beyond what's printed on the POS are few and far between, and god forbid you actually have a problem. If your shiney new laptop breaks, you get to wait a couple of weeks for it to be fixed. But that's general and we're talking about a particular store, I've been there when the number of staff outnumber the customers by at least 2:1 and even then trying to get any attention when you want it is virtually impossible. When I finally did any questions were answered (on the whole wrongly) with barely audible grunts and it took the guy 10minutes (of chatting to his mate) to check stock levels on an MP3 player, with the conclusion being "dunno, well we have that one", while pointing at the *dummy* display model. It eventually transpired after asking if anyone else might know and him having a few more fruitless chats with other staff that there were a load stashed in the cabinet under the display. Hardly top notch service I'm sure you'll agree. In regards to the technical knowledge and "red carpet", Ok so they're not going to know everything, that's fine, but at least some willingness to find out would go a long way!

Like I said 10% off more expensive than everywhere else is often still more expensive than everywhere else. For example that MP3 player I was looking at was £30 cheaper in the Sony Centre across the road and £50 cheaper in Lewis's, they wouldn't match either despite both having stock. So they don't even honor their own price promise......and if we're talking internet prices the same thing was £65 cheaper on Amazon. So 10% wouldn't have made them cheaper than any of those competitors. In the end I went with the high street convenience of the Sony Centre, they've always been pretty good to me CS wise and they matched Lewis's.

Now this is just one example, but I've not been impressed at all in there. However, it has been a few weeks since my last visit, so maybe they've all been on a training course and improved things?
