#11
I'm sorry but you have to wake up and smell the coffee.Takeover stories as a ruse used to keep you working like a dog till the shutters go down.Look for work now before you are competing with your colleagues

:? i was in the zavvi liverpool clayton st store yesterday..nothing mega in there clearout sale..my ****! just as well the shop shut yesterday..staff were most unhelpfull...wont be long before the liverpool1 store closes its doors..then the whole of liverpool1 overpriced stores with it ....2years from now hmv will either be in the same situation if they dont reduce there overpriced stock:w00t:
#14
Thought Zavvi had gone bust and closed all shops. ?
#15
ps3 still at £270 in the stores!
poor effort
i thought theyd want to clear stock ASAP!?
#16
it also says it on there site.
and they have stopped selling on there site.
they need to drop there offers down as ppl will not buy from them
banned#17
I went in zavvi yesterday too - ended up buying from hmv. Much better value.
#18
Same with Zavvi in Leeds, I am Legend in thier mega clearout was £6 walked down the road to HMV and it was a fiver. Not a huge saving but still the sale is poor. I feel sorry for the staff though, agree with earlier comments though the store is overpriced.

Off to town on Friday so will be pop in and have a look, hope you guys get to keep your jobs!

Hopefully Tesco won't buyout either they have too much money anyway,

Hot from me, thanks for the tip off!
#19
They will not be saved. Not if it means taking on the debt. And seriously who is going to buy from Zavvi if they appear from the ashes in another guise?

And yes 10% is pathetic. As a christmas/New Years sale alone I'd be expecting 20% off. Closing down trying 40-60%+
It's like the Hut's sale, several things on their advert are at least £3 more expensive than other major retailers.

I feel sorry for the staff knowing that they'll be out of a job in a week or so so I hope they are helping themselves to the stock just in case they don't get paid.

Have to feel sorry for the staff about to lose their jobs what with all those from woolies,, but with attitudes like that im not surprised, sorry

Zavvi haven't been placed into administration for the way they treat their customers. Their debts to Entertainment UK & failing to find another supplier did that.

Rude staff does not equal administration.
#23
In fairness to zavvi staff I've always found the staff in Ipswich very pleasant and helpful. I already get 10% off with my virgin credit card - do you know if they'll still honour the 10% for cc holders once the store 10% kicks in?
#24
Zavvi PS3's now only £243!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the 10% off anyway, grab them while thier hot!
#25
Until they have 40-50% off, I'm not too fussed. Was hoping to get some game bargains in Zavvi today, but many of their marked down 'clear out' games were still over double the price of most other high street or on line retailers! Rubbish..
#26
NOTE: Zavvi is in Administration NOT Liquidation. Zavvi is not closing down yet, the only sale is the Clear out Sale which is stickered stock only. Don't know why people are confused. When it was Virgin we used clear out and clearance as names for sales..

I work for Zavvi its 10% off everything but it excludes games hardware and iPods. It won't be stickered the discount will just apply at the tills, I looked on the stock system at work today and the prices are already up for tomorrow. Like friends boxset is £44.99 (aprox)

Please be patient with the staff, remember that we are facing losing our job at one of the worst times possible and its because of the collapse of Woolworths rather than our businesses fault. On behalf of the staff we are all trying to keep our heads up high, but I have had to deal with lots of abuse including being called a C*NT etc over us not being able to accept gift cards. Also people jesting that we are going under when our staff are going to lose our jobs!

And about the whole no use of gift cards thing, it wasn't really Zavvi's decision its the law firm running it atm theirs, obviously we didn't want to disappoint our customers because its causing a knock to our brand now!

Unfortunately not, its what the administrators have done :\

Whats wrong with you lot, do you all just want to order things off the internet and never walk into a music store ever again, because thats what is going to happen in a few years time when HMV is gone too. Yes the internet is cheaper on chart items but i have found Zavvi to be just as cheap when it comes to there sale items, you are all killing the high street youselves by wanting internet prices on the high st, it aint never going to happen, stores have more overheads to consider.
And as for the staff being unhelpfull, i think you would be unmotivated if you knew there was a possibily of your job going, give them a break!!!
#29
One thing Zavvi should have done is do an HMV and start trading in pre-owned games, makes for some cracking bargains. Not that it would have made a difference too the woolworths problem but just as a general money saving issue.

I've always liked Zavvi as although the Games section was not competitive to even HMV they had some great bargains on box sets and older DVD's. If they do go under then that leaves HMV as the only real DVD shop in my area with very little competition.

Just been to a few Zavvi today in Central London & found a few good deals, i.e. Power Stone Collection (PSP) [2 games in one] for £3.59 & Age of Empires: Collector's Edition (PC) [4 games in one] also £3.59.

So, when I go into Zavvi/HMV for a box set and it's priced up £15 more expensive than internet prices, I should still buy from the high street? I can understand one or two pounds difference for the convenience but those prices are silly sometimes... if these shops weren't so greedy they'd get a whole lot more of my business!

I cant wait until they are all shut and people stop being ripped off!!!

An extra !0% off? Whoopee do, the thieving scumbags. £150 worth of vouchers that I can't spend, as bought months ago have to go on a creditor's list and likely to get nothing back for them. How can a company state they are trading as usual despite administration yet not accept their own vouchers? They had the money upfront then have the gall to say that I can't have anything whilst they carry on flogging their stock. F*** Zavvi, I can't wait until they officially go bust now - even if they don't, I won't ever use them again.
#36
That's basically administrators rule #1. Don't pay creditors. And I'm afraid that includes anyone with vouchers.

A tad ironic coming from someone on a WEBSITE that is designed to help people find the best possible prices....if you were so conserned surely you'd just buy what you want from your local store without even checking for bargain prices :whistling:

Spot on comment!
If high street shops stopped being so expensive they would have a whole lot more of my custom, its probably been about three years since i last bought a game, DVD or CD from a high street store, all of my purchases seem to be via online retailers where most of us find some great bargains.

I went into my local this morning and it was really sad, it was empty and so quiet. As for staff being rude and unhelpful-i have to disagree, mine were lovely...my 1 year old decided to remover her shoes and socks and lobbed one of the shoes. I retraced my steps and couldn't find it and 3 staff member were scouring the store with me. I feel sorry for staff that are going to lose their jobs with the way things are going there will be no jobs left-too many stores are going under......and how many more will go before the end of the month?
