They'd have to pay me a lot more than £1 to go on one of these. Horrible way to travel.
they dont pay you anything, you pay them, that's how most services work.

I wouldn't mind but their destinations seem to have been reduced. strangely they have promotions going from London to many places but not the other way round.

btw I have had bad experiences with National express e.g. driver not letting me on because I was not there 10mins early, I got there only 5mins early and my ticket was sold (I had prebooked)

I would suggest the train where possible, but the bus can be cheaper.

Go back to your rolls royce and leave coaches for us peasants then.

Who needs that many seats?

I took advantage of £1 tickets in the spring. Was pleasantly surprised by the experience, I hadn't travelled by coach for a long time and i reckon they've upped their game.

Like all cheap fares you loose flexibility, i was in London earlier than planned and they wouldn't let me on an earlier coach - even though there was plenty of space - but can't complain, got on my booked coach no problem.

If the route you need isn't included in the promotion, do a normal search on the website - find out what route you would take - and where you change coaches. Then go back to the special offers and try and break the journey down into smaller chunks - hopefully with a £1 fare for each section.

Hot from me, Makes going back and for to see my girlfriend a lot more often affordable. I'm sure there are a lot of people on tight budgets like me who will benefit from this deal.

If you can use your noggin and are able to read the details online that specify when you book to arrive 10 minutes early, so that all luggage can be loaded and passengers boarded ready to leave at the designated time then you should have no problems.

Bit annoying when people turn up late, make the journey longer for everyone else on the bus then moan about not being able to get seats together. Leave them behind I say.

National Express? Teehee. Get to it Hotuksheep :)

Useful for the Sun readers using a 2p holiday token for a caravan in Rhyl before taking an Easyjet flight somewhere 'exotic' :{

Great deal, just booked a return trip for London to Coventry to see some mates at uni for £2 return! The tube across london to get from work to victoria coach station will cost more than the round trip!

the snobbery on here is ridiculous. National Express has changed a lot recently, I travel with them occasionally when visiting mates on a weekend and I don't want to drive. I usually kip the whole journey anyway, the seats are relatively comfy and the coaches are clean. And it gets me where I need to go. Don't need any more than that.

Not lots of £1 funfares on Sunday, shame... I guess they have to make their money somehow.
#23
Thanks for this.

Why are these never any use up in the North of England unless you want to go to London....so unfair!!

Could probably drive 400yards in my X5 for that. Let me say, it would be more enjoyable than 400 miles in one of these.

We don't care what car you claim to have - grow up!
#34
Sorry guys. But National Express never again! I once missed a flight because the bus didn't stop (twice) - apparently it was full - even though I had bought tickets in advance from London (Golders Green) to Stansted.
#35
Anyone know how strict they are on amounts of luggage, thinking of taking all my uni stuff up to Newc on one of these
#36
Just been on the NX website to have a look and it's a shock to realise just how incredibly slow National Express coaches are. From Sheffield to London takes 4 and a half hours, Sheffield to Newcastle takes 5 hours 20 minutes and Sheffield to Birmingham is an incredible 4 hours. It's 78 miles from Sheffield to Birmingham so that means your coach trundles along at an average speed of 19mph!

You'd have to be mad to pay to face an endurance test like this. Cold from me!
#37
Thank you!

Price changed on going in to my basket, but I guess others were also purchasing! £11 for 2 to get to London and back from Bristol is a bargain!
