Hi everyone, this is my first deal so please point in the right direction if something's up!

Amazon are selling 100 MP3 album downloads at £3 each. Included in the selection are some crackers from bands such as Led Zepellin, Metallica, The Killers and other great artists such as Jimmi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse (not a fan myself but hey!).

The amazon music download system is great, have used it many times. The software is easy to install (directly from amazon; should get a prompt to download it when you buy an MP3 album). Its basically a cheaper version of iTunes, and is of course legal :-)

Anyway, hope this is useful!

Also included are various songs for 49p each.

Hot because they're a good price for MP3 downloads, but in my opinion MP3 downloads are still over-priced (especially as I've bought several of those on CD for less and no 'lossless' download format is available).

Would be good to include the price in the deal title as a lot of folks use the text only view [ OK I see you've done that now ]

Yeah that's true enough, Mp3s are usually too pricey. That's why I have never bothered with iTunes; you can nearly always find the album at a better price. Thanks for the input

And cheers for the list CJ, didn't think of that!

blimey people are so spoilt these days....agreed mp3's should be a little cheaper but when i was younger and cd's just came out about 20 years ago we paid about £3-5 for a single and £18-30 for an album

Thanks for the list CJ - but how will HUKD make their money if we don't all 'click through' to Amazon? :p

Still not cheap enough to deter me from the illegal methods of dl'ing though

Cheers, just downloaded Sonic Youth - Goo for £1 (had a voucher from my recent Sansa Clip purchase)

Just listened to it twice, and it made me feel like a teenager again

Why does every thread like this attract half-a-dozen gimps spouting off about illegal downloads? Presumably they post responses to other deals along the lines of "Yeah it's cheap, but my mate could shoplift it for free"...

Voted hot, some excellent albums rather than a load of average songs with a few good singles.

Also, can we get rid of the posts advocating piracy please, they are completely against the aims of this site.

Yeah, they've got a surplus stock of mp3s and are trying to flog them to save warehouse space. Seriously, they've got absolutely piles of them.

That's what I heard anyway.

well.. my take is, if you're going to spend money on music, give it to smaller/less known bands who could actually use the money and might need it to make more music.. can't see the point in throwing money at most of these bands, they're either finished or already famous or both.

Maybe it would, but what are you basing that on? The Amazon info suggests most will be 256kbps VBR, and I've never had anything from them as low as 128kbps...

I've had several albums from Amazon and they have all been 320kbps - good enough for me!

I must admit I thought everything was at 320kbs but I just checked my last few Amazon freebie downloads: 29 were @320kbps; 1 @243kbps and 8 @256kbps or more.

Wow this got hot, thanks to everyone adding heat, comments etc, glad the deal is helpful :-D I'm on a tight student budget atm, weighing up now to get an album by Hendrix or The Strokes, can't decide which! £3 is dinner for a week so it's a tough decision.

Totally, and when you were a student and could barely afford the £3-5 for a limited edition CD Single featuring an otherwise unavailable B-Side it made it even more expensive, to the point you couldn't afford a weekend out at the pub with your mates.

LOL.....definitely here, "essential" is in the "ears" of the beholder! Plenty more other albums on that list I personally wouldn't class as essential either.
