Haha I thought that myself!

they would be great fun in reverse though, just take your feet off the pedals and scream as you remember you have no brakes :-)

I doubt you'd think they were great when you're riding up them.

Surely when one pays 1k for a bicycle it shouldn't have any issues with a hill climb?

Excellent book - provides inspiration for days out on the bike by stringing two or three together. Slowly ticking off the south-east climbs, would love to go further afield and do some of the others in Yorkshire or Scotland. For those with the competitive instinct, there's a Strava 100 climbs club, with leaderboards at Veloviewer.

Surely strength and fitness is the primary hill climbing requirement.

I could have a £10,000 bike and it wouldn't help me get my fat backside up a hill

Well despite this being slightly over your virtual budget, this 4.65kg.(!) bike would actually help!

But the question still stands whether it help enough to get you to the top? ;-)

p.s. no need to rush to buy it because I don't think Evan Cycles will be selling out of these too soon...

I like the irony, as it looks like elevation data with a massive descent at the end.

Phew. You'd be lucky if the bike was still intact after a steep hill climb!: )

have you tried it. I have a 2k bike and seek out hills. They are still hard. That's the point. Any serious road cyclist seeks out hills
