Big news!!!! Started on Monday 21st July...BRAND NEW DEAL

Halifax will pay you £100 to switch ANY bank account to them. Even if it has no credits or debits!!! (Previously this offer was only available if switching account with £750+ credits and 2+ direct debits)

Me and my wife have just moved two old Santander accounts into our EXISTING halifax account and got £100 each!!

Really nice staff in branch too... Just need your debit card of acc to be switched. Too good to be true!!

Don't forget £40 Quidco if you open a new reward currant account online. http://www.quidco.com/halifax-reward-current-account/?ac

Dead simple in branch. If switching into existing account like us, it took just 10 mins....apparently 30 mins if you need to open a new account.

No pushy sales pressure either. Really nice service. Chap was lovely.

Prefer face to face and supporting the high street.

iPhone? What, so an app that lacks functionality, is a mere style icon and requests payment for every action you take? Count me out...

They offered me this last month but as you mentioned, you've gotta have £750 coming in every month and also two direct debits. But, are you saying this is no longer the case?

Offered in Portsmouth today. Confirmed - No need for the usual direct debits & transfers in.

http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/switch-to-halifax/

£100 drops into your account on day 10. (3 days after the switch)

To qualify for the £100 switching offer ("the offer") you must use the 'Current Account Switch Service' and meet the following conditions:

Use the 'Current Account Switch Service', to switch into a new or existing Halifax Current Account, Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Account ("your account").
Use the 'Current Account Switch Service' to transfer all the active credits and debits from the bank account that you hold with another bank and close this account.
You are not eligible for this offer if you have received £100 for switching to a Halifax bank account at any point since January 2012.

Customers switching a Bank of Scotland bank account to Halifax are not eligible for the offer.

What else you need to know

1. The offer applies to applications received in branch, online or by phone from 21 July 2014. The offer is subject to change and can be withdrawn without notice at any time.
2. If your account has an overdraft you will not pay any daily overdraft fees for 6 months provided you stay within your planned overdraft limit; if you exceed your planned overdraft limit, then unplanned overdraft fees will still apply.
3. After 6 months, or if you change your current account, you will be charged daily overdraft fees applicable to the account you hold if you use your overdraft. Please see the Reward payments, interest and account fees leaflet for details on overdraft fees.
4. If you do not meet the conditions of the offer we may claim back the £100. We will do this by debiting £100 from your account.
5. Only one offer is available per customer. Joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment.
6. The offer will be paid directly into your account once your switch has completed. The payment will appear as a cash credit.
7. The offer is not available to customers whose existing account is being managed by our Recovery Departments.
8. The offer is not available to employees of Lloyds Banking Group, or if the employee is named on any bank account held in joint names.

Yes. That's right. The £750 and 2 dd switch rule has been removed from last Monday....All you need is a bank account (with valid debit card) and go through the 7 day switching/closure process....incredible!
#4
Think I'll have a look in to this. Cheers.

Quick question for anyone that knows. I have a two current accounts with Santander (123 & Graduate).

If I choose to use this service to close my Graduate Account will my 123 account close too? As I wouldn't want that to happen. Might seem like an obvious question but I read through some of the switch details it seemed a little ambiguous.
banned#15
Is this subject to a credit check ? As mine is rubbish!!!!
#16
GrantD- you will be fine to switch graduate account. 123 acc not linked to that. We switched from Santander and it didn't affect our123

Josephzaa...yes it is credit checked. Unless you already have an existing halifax bank account open?
#17
Darn. With BOS already.
#18

Can someone just explain exactly how to do this?

Apply online for bank account successfully. Then on another day use the account switching service via telephone?
#24
Me and partner swapped, had £200 total plus we get £10 reward each month! I was quite loyal to HSBC but would recommend anyone to change banks! Such an easy simple process everything was transferred over! Well done Halifax!!

Best going into branch. They will take id and sort the switch in one visit. Really quick. If apply online this may slow down the process as you may have to go into branch anyway to provide id.

OK. Just wondered if they might be concerned if the account I switch has little money to begin with. Plus i'm a student (albeit I have a job). Do you think they would prefer you to apply for an overdraft if you have good credit rating? I say that, because, otherwise they might see me moving little money into the account, and not think it is profitable enough to bother accepting me, considering i'm a student. Do have a good credit rating :) Maybe put some money in the switching account the day before :D

No. They are not bothered about how you use the account. As long as you have a bank acc to switch and get accepted for halifax bank account (or already have one) it does not matter about how you intent to use it.

Ha ha. Apparently it's gonna be excellent like a blackberry z10??
#36
I only have a current account with Halifax. Could I just open an account with say Natwest and then transfer it to Halifax for the £100? Surely there must be some condition that stops people from doing that,
