Details above, confirmed discount in the UK - £100 off so lowest it's ever been (£759 PREVIOUS) Regardless of your opinions on high end VR headsets, it's still a hefty discount.

Only valid for purchases from 25th to 28th.

2 free games - Zombie Simulator and The Gallery ep1

You can order from Curry's, directly from Vive or Overclockers I believe.

Just in time to experience Google Earth :)

Any questions relating to Vive, I'll try to answer them.

Does assetto corsa work with vive? I know oculus does and its my main game that i want vr for.
#2
I wonder if oculus will drop its price too. Amazon warehouse price of ocukus had been way over £700 lol
#3
Good discount, but anyone looking to pull the trigger do keep in mind there's likely to be news about a Vive 2nd gen (or updated 1st gen) at the start of 2017. So you pays your money and you takes your chances.

I believe it only works through revive, it's fairly easy to set up. There's a subreddit which would give you all the information you need

I doubt gen 2 early 2017.i've seen pleanty of articles with head people denying this. The only thing i think we can expect is a wireless addon as this has been released over in the east but not here yet.
#6
New base stations and touch like controllers.
Headset will pretty much stay the same.

I want it but it's still way too expensive with the inflated UK price, this is only £30 less than the launch rrp. If it was the US price of £589 then it would be a lot more attractive. Blame Brexit!

Still voted hot as best price if you have the cash lying around.

I do like my vive. Wow factor wears off but I still put in the hours playing ping pong (paddle up) and yes I've had Assetto Corsa & Dirt Rally working with revive. Much prefer it to have developer support that having to jump through hoops. Heat. Best price available. :)

Not released early 2017, but very likely to be news of some sort coming out.

That seems very possible. Just wanted people to have all the information, as I know it's frustrating to spend a lot of money on something and then it so quickly become superseded by a new version.

I'm in the same boat, I'm actually currently carrying out in store demonstrations in Curry's PC world and every person has been wowed, I would love to experience it all over again.

Saying that, I still love the technology and you will still find great moments with it, for example, Google Earth is amazing.

Still makes me laugh watching someone drop the controllers thinking they're placing them onto a ping pong table that isn't there X)

I've had nothing but bad experience with mine.
Had a charger die on me after one charge.
Had the squeaky trigger that I had to rma.
Controller came back with tracking issues where it was about 2 inches out.
Sent both controllers back.
Controllers came back excatly the same after repair (tracking)
Then had to go to scan to prove it was my controllers and not my system by using it on scans set up.
Contacted head of community manager @rockjaw who has manged to finally get my a brand new set to Me.
All in all in 3 and a half months that I owned it I've been without a charger for 3 weeks and my controllers I would have been without for 1 and a half months..Trying to get compensation at the moment but it ain't looking good.

But even after all this is love it and Google earth is amazing plus free :)

Tips for people if they get it.
Get the advance settings app for steamVR the chaperone and Super Sampling make it so much better as does that new sync option.

Oh and revive now has been updated to allow playing off most oculus touch games which is a nice brucy bonus :D

Oh man, that would have driven me mad. I've read a fair few horror stories on faulty vives and the support seems to be atrocious. Unless you get in contact with an actual individual, you won't get your vive fixed it seems.

Yeah Google Earth is amazing :D

Had it all pal off there customer services like being made to feel like I'm lying, rude and arrogant staff.
Wouldn't bother me but it's such an expensive toy.
I'm without my controllers now and steam sale is on.
Last time was Halloween and I missed all the excellent updates alot of games got for it.

Argh even at this good price, even with currys 10% off through quidco (final price of 594) I still can't justify it! There's too much competition out there and prices are bound to plummet. Plus touch controllers in 2017, possibly wireless vr add ons... My gut is telling me to wait

And so is my wallet

And so would my girlfriend if she ever knew

Isn't this the original price before they upped it? I am happy with PS VR until prices become reasonable.

How do people still not understand that the US price is before tax??? In the US it seems to be $700 on black Friday so take off our 20% tax and its pretty much the same as in the US at just over £580.

But tax in the US is not 20%. Even at the highest tax rate it would equate to around £600. We pay more no matter how you dress it up.

It was £680 before the price hike. Definitely cheapest it's been.

I found it after logging into quidco but seems to just be on kitchen appliances and printers. I'm pulling the trigger if i can get it for less than £600 for sure...

My Gear VR gave me 2 days and haven't touched it since... It just seemed like loads of short tech demos. Does this have any actual full games or is it more of the same?

Doesn't even compare.

Room scale tracking - controllers have great haptic feedback, sensors are particularly accurate, 2 lighthouses with laser tracking. Headset - 110 degree FOV - OLED display.

There are definitely some 'full' games on the VIVE and then plentiful 'experiences'. Just to name a few below

Tilt Brush
Space Pirate Trainer
Hover Junkers
Rec Room (free)
Subnautica
Audioshield
Out of Ammo
House of the dying sun
Vanishing Realms
Pool Nation
Raw Data
Tabletop simulator
The Solus Project

Other short experiences - Theblu, Google Earth (free) , Alt VR, The rose and me (free) , The Night Cafe, Job Simulator , The Lab (free)

Plenty more :)

While the Vive did mark up the retail price (probably more than they needed to), Brexit isn't to blame for tax inflating the price more Adding VAT to £589 is still £706.80. Not only that, but especially electronics have sometimes charged more than the VAT difference than the prices in the US way before Brexit. Brexit may or may not be a good thing, but really you can't blame Brexit for anything, nothing has actually happened yet. Also everyone knew the pound would drop after the announcement, that wasn't the point of voting to leave the EU. The real criticism should be how it affects us long term.

My Gear VR gave me 2 days and haven't touched it since...

My circa 1980 View-Master gave me a week or two, and then I dropped it and it broke. Therefore Virtual Reality is a flop.

https://img0.etsystatic.com/050/0/7846514/il_570xN.713325290_griu.jpg

Seriously though, if you haven't used the Vive, there is no way to describe it to you. Buy it or don't, justify your decision how you like, all I can say is that this is more than the sum of its parts, and this generation of VR is unlike any computer experience I have ever had before.

When I think about the time I've spent with the Vive, my mind literally remembers the experience in the same way as places I have been to, rather than games I have played in the living room looking at a screen.

I know it isn't but the amount of tax we pay has nothing to do with the manufacturer! The pre tax price is what we should look at, in the UK we're just unfortunate that we get shafted with 20%

I ordered from Currys last night but cancelled due to trustpilots reviews on currys (some folks in another deal on here made me aware they have poor service). And now i'm not sure if I have enough space (You need 1.5m by 2m where as I have 1.5m by 1.5m) and i've read up on the screen door effect which sounds as if it blurs the resolution to where you might as well just have 720p? Not sure whether to wait for the next gen now? Thanks.
