does anyone know if these are inkjet printable? Ta.
#6
No, not printable i dont think. It would be splashed all over them if they were.

Does "Same product only" mean you cant mix and match?

guv
It is indeed, so make sure the -Rs are made in Japan and the +Rs are made in Taiwan. Pass on the ones made in India. Details are printed on the cellophane below the barcode.

I got the verbatim DVD-R from Japan and DVD+R from india. After burning, I did speed test on both, the ones from india are always 99% quality while the ones from japan are 96% max.

not sure why.
#8
anyone know if htese are the taiyo yuden ones
#9
bought some Staples Chadwell Heath, east london - DVD-R's from Japan were at the bottom of the bin - about 8 packs left, easy to idendtell differece as the ones from japan have no black lip at bottom - just shrink wrap. loads from india though. DVD+R all seemed to be from Taiwan.

on pack apart from verbatim says 'a mitsubishi kagaku media comp'

If they are made in JAPAN then I can confirm that they are indeed TYG03

would confirm with an image if I could insert the damn thing!
#11
Anyone know if the "Japan" ones are TYGO3's again.
#12
which are better to use, DVD-R or DVD+R?
#13
Dvd-r
#14
use the -R you will get a higher compatibility with DVD players that the +R!
#15
Wow, what a great deal! I might pop out and buy some tomorrow! :)

Using + or - doesnt make too much difference.

Most writers will record to both formats nowadays and Verbatim discs are very compatible with most things.

If using a DVD recorder (rather than a writer) they sometimes only write to one or the other (although most do both). The discs seem to playback in anything once recorded to.

If you writer can bitset and you write the +R as DVD-ROM then it will be more compatible that -R

I agree with this. Both +R for PC dvd burners and +R if your home dvd burner is able to burn in +R mode.
#21
with the pionner why would you want to bitset it bookmarks them as dvd-rom anyway why do you think they are 1 of the only writers to burn 360 games do you homework before saying stupid stuff thats why theres no 3rd party programs to do it sa its done for you.

No mate do YOUR homework.

The pioneer bitsets only DUAL LAYER as standard - NOT SL +RW or +R

So if you have a fussy dvd player or XBOX1 with a samsung drive it won't read the +R's as they are not written as DVD-ROM.

Not everyone only wants to write just xbox360 games.

This is a good offer from Scan for printable discs, maybe only if you took advantage of the free postage for life offer HUKD had on their site a while back.

I bought some last week and the discs are pretty good, twice as thick as some of the other discs I have had in the past. The face printing is excellent too, really good quality, dries super fast too.

Used about 50 so far and not had 1 fail yet, although I use them at 4x write speed because of what I am using them for.

That is a bargain...do you know what dye is used on these discs? The matt finish sounds great, as I have this on some Traxdata dsics as well....prints beautifully on my Canon Pixma printer.

I happened to wander through staples this afternoon and was very pleased to see the offer had reappeared. I bought a hundred dvd-r's for £12.99 and they said made in Japan on them. Dvdinfopro says they are TYG03

They had spindles of a hundred verbatim dvd-r going for £22 so I'm glad I spotted the offer. Was just on the usual shelf with a small cardboard sign promoting the offer.
#36
Cheers, Bolton had plenty of +r and very few -r but managed to pick up 2 50 -r tubs, also bought a few extras from the clearance shelf :) bargain.
#37
hopefully save someone a wasted trip to west quay southampton

none left of the -R nor +R
#38
Plenty of -r and +r in the Rochdale store, no promotional signs up but BOGOF worked at checkout okay.
voted hot
thanks
#39
I managed to get some dvd-r at Tottemham Hale. But they are made in India. Hope they perform well.
