40 x 18=£720 not £1000
#6
i think it works out at £720
#7
Can someone work out quidco???
#8
quidco is £35 for a combi plan so it works out at £1.94 a month off
#9
720 for 18 months, that the greatest rip off after the great train robbery.
#10
Why do people keep working out how much it is over 18 months then calling it a rip off?

As far as mobile phone deals go its actually quite a good deal.

The monthly cost is around average but your getting a good phone and a free PS3 too.

Nice find mate, although its one of those things that if you wait till next week there will be another *better* offer lol.

The PS3 isn't free though, you're paying for it.

40 quid a month!!!??? nearly 500 pounds a year! what for? you've gotta make a hellofa lot of calls & txts to make that any value - and the PS3? do'ya really think it's free?
#13
Not really paying for the ps3 are you, your paying for a service, i.e. the mobile phone package.

Some people will use 1000 minutes per month to other mobiles, thats why it is a deal to them.

If you dont use a mobile or dont call mobiles for 1000 minutes or do a great deal of texting of course its not a deal to you, personally. That doesn't make it a bad deal does it?

Yeh I appreciate that - but it's mobile phone company rip-off IMHO - throw in a free PS3 'n that'll pull in the punters when what they should really be doing is cutting the cost

Oh don't we all know it!!! But when they are all at it you still gotta look for the best deal, even if they're all rip-off's lol

Not a rip-off at all. It's horses for courses. Do the maths. Same phone on T-mobile phone deal only is £36 a month. A new 80GB PS3, which this is, is £300 on Amazon. That totals £948.

Orange Racoon 35 is only 700 mins @ £30/month. That still comes to £840, and with less minutes.

This deal is £720.

So you are getting the PS3 for less than it would cost to buy from Amazon, and you are paying for it gradually over 18 months. For a lot of people that may want a PS3 (e.g. as a Christmas present for their children) this has to be a good deal. Heat added.

If your on O2 PAYG for £5 every month you can get 1,000 minutes / texts to 10 O2 numbers - add that to topping up £15 a month for 500 free texts and somehow for under half the price PAYG is beating contract!

umm, that obviously suits you - '1000mins/txt to O2 numbers', doesnt work if your calling voda does it? Everyone wants something different, thats why theres hundreds of different price plans.

if you want a ps3 80gb, a new mobile contract, then this could be a good deal. You may not get as much back as you would through cashback, but at least you dont have the hassle & risk!

i got a free 40gb ps3 with 12 month contract at £30/m, sold the phone & got cashback, so i've got 12 months rental with all the text/minutes I need for almost free (posted few months back).
#22
These deals are handy if you are the sort of person like me that makes use of a £35-£40 a month contract, and you happen to want a particualr 'free' gift and a particular phone.

Its all obviously built into the overall price you pay, but allows you to pay monthly, rather than everything upfront. As others have said, you can sell the handset, and keep your existing one, to make things cheaper, and also knock your tariff down, so many months in.

OK, what about this:

o2 Simplicity Tariff - £20 a month (600 minutes unlimited texts) = £360 over 18 months (or you could go for a ****** phone cashback deal and pay substantially less than this on whatever tariff)
PS3 - £230
= £590

= £130 to buy whatever phone you wanted (which you can get this one for, or other better/cheaper phones)

Plus you're not tied into a contract so you can change/upgrade when you like, AND you're not stuck with a ****** network such as T-Mobile who have terrible coverage particularly in the North, have horrendously bad 3G coverage, per minute billing (at least on their business accounts, not sure about personal accounts) and terrible customer service.

If you work it out, this isn't a saving, its just the networks making slightly less out of people who generally don't know any better

PS3 80gb = £300
£720 - £300 = £420
£420 / 18 = £23.333/month

With QuidCo it's £21.38/month
#25
if you sell everything and just have the contract it will turn out to be around 15 a month with quidco.
PS3 80gb = £300
w890i = £120
£720 - £420 = £300
£300 / 18 = £16.666/month

with quidco its less.

then buy a cheap phone for around £60 and your getting 1000 mins and unlimited texts for 15 a month.

Not bad, 1000 minutes and unlimited texts for £21.38, only worth it if your planning to keep the PS3 as I think it will be hard to get £300 for it if you plan to sell it off. Also how much is the phone worth?

Sell the two free items off and make your monthly cost lower?

Decent deal if you need that many minutes.

Its a good deal if that is the phone you want, use that many minutes and txt, and want a ps3. But not many people fit under all 3 criteria.

Play.com are selling the Vodafone branded version for £129.99 - baring in mind Vodafone are usually the cheapest for PAYG phones.

Check the post above yours mate

How is that beating a contract? A phone is for talking to other people and also not being restricted to talking to the same 10 people on a o2 phone.

It may work for you, but for 90% of the population that is useless.
