500ma usually, but strangely i just checked mine, it says 1000ma max, hmmm
#7
Does it not depend on a) what is delivered through the outlet and/or b) the demand made by your device? I would have thought that these things were essentially the same, except some have a bigger capacity fuse than others...
#8
I ordered the previous deal of these 500mA? and they were never sent so had a weeks worth of hassle and paypal disputes to get the money back!

Personally would never deal with the site again.
#9
ordered one on 2/1/2010 still not received ?????????
#10
If you know anything about Ohms Law, you might refute claims this will charge things quicker. A device will draw an ampage according to it's resistance - most devices won't draw 1000mA during charging.

My satnav, however, does and I have ordered one of these from dealextreme before and it worked a charm.
#11
Cheers pal! My N900 charger is 1200MAH, so this would come in handy.

But luckily I have a genuine Nokia in car charger so I'd rather use that. It will charge thing quicker that can handle more than 500MAH.
#12
Ordered one on 2 Jan 10 - still not recieved. Order enquiry has been raised.
#13
I ordered mine ages ago and only received it recently. If you're in a rush don't use deal extreme. If you don't mind waiting a month or so then they're fine.
#14
I got one of these from deal extreme and it wont charge an iphone 3g no idea if its faulty
#15
Deal extreme do take a while to send items as most come from hong kong etc, they will usually turn up in the end though.

My poundland usb charger does the job for my iPhone and MP3 player.
#16
don't go near this company
very poor service and you'll be lucky to see your item
#17
i ordered these last time there were posted like 2 months ago and they still not arrived!!!
Dont waste your time with this company....

I had the same problem.

Finally refunded, and bought a Belkin adapter for ~£5 on Amazon when they sell for £17 in Currys! I'm happy with that...

used for that last few years and never had a problem

Never had problem with them - just need to wait

Good that this is 1000ma as some appliances need that to charge
#21
I've used them countless times and never had a problem.
#22
Cheap, unbranded USB charges can be dangerous. I have seen one catch fire before.

My old Motorola phone was similar, it wouldn't charge from a 'power only' USB connection. It had to be either the official charger or a computer device of some kind. I don't know whether it looks for a signal as well as voltage to know when it's connected?
#24
It is max 1000mA (1 Amp). The device you plug in 'draws' current, so if the device needs 600mA, it will draw 600mA, if it needs 1200mA (unlikely), it will draw 1000mA, as this is the max current rating.
I used to mod on the forum a lot for Dealextreme (username captjimjam) and have seen the customer service issues in great depth.
Usually if you follow the procedure of using the CSE ticket system, problems are sorted fairly easily. Some items are delayed when there are supply issues, so orders can take longer than initially expected.
Don't expect next day delivery with DX, but most often expect best prices.

Odd, that's PRECISELY one reason why I wont' buy Sony, dodgy gear!

I have however got one of these, and it is fine
#26
I suppose it's a fair price, and del time can be a pain but imo, on items like this that you may be plugging something into it that's worth a few hundred quid, I'd rather buy something that's passed UK quality etc. It's not a definate guarantee of never failing or blowing up your cherished phone or ipod etc. but I'd feel a little more confident lol.
#27
To be fair, wouldn't it be better to pay £4 odd and get one of these?

Personally, I love DealExtreme, but as someone pointed out above, their customer service is terrible.

This takes up far more space, albeit with more features.

I've ordered once from DE and had no problems with it. It took a while to deliver but they mention that on the site. The items are cheap so no surprises if the service isn't top notch - don't knock it.

I don't think you understand the reason for buying this.

The whole point of buying this is that it can deliver MORE power than a standard USB port, USB is limited at maximum 500MAH and this is max 1000MAH. So if you are like me and have a phone which charges at 1200MAH this is great because using a (standard) USB port socket it would take about >2 hours to charge, where as in this it can be done in an hour or so.

So sure the other one has more functionality but it just takes too long to charge - especially if you are using GPS at the same time! When using the GPS on the pulse and plugged into the USB it doesn't charge it because you are using power almost at the same rate that you are charging it!

Hope that explains a few details.

Well I picked up one of the dual port usb chargers from poundland today - charges my Iphone 3g fine in the car with the £1 retractable usb charge / data cable I got from there..

I got one of these from dealextreme it didnt work, why pay twice as much for something that might not work (the one I got from there certainly does not), yes they are compact and look better if you are going to leave plugged in all the time (which I wouldnt risk personally) I have a cig lighter socket in the armrest of my car so its not on show anyway.

I voted cold as the one I got from them did not work, it powers up with red light but wont charge my phone, also you can buy a dual port one for half the money from pound shop which actually works.

Yep, this man knows what he' s talking about... this is a product sold purely for the wrong reasons... bit like 1000x Zoom on Digital Camcorders then 10,000x !! ..no real benefit
