Just returned from Sainsburys where they have WHITE,DARK and MILK chocolate bars 100g for just 27p.

I know this is an ongoing price but i just thought i'd give the heads up as i actually think it tastes as good as chocolate 4 times its price.

Worth a punt?

The white chocolate is tasty, can't go wrong at 27p.
Heat added, even though it's not really a deal
#2
somerfields do there own brand in milk and dark chocolate for 30p the dark is really good
#3
I nearly fell off my chair as I read it as 100 bars of choc for 27p!
#4
Cocoa is more expensive than both sugar and fat which this chocolate is gonna contain plenty of.

This 'chocolate' is gonna be pretty damn unhealthy IMHO
#5
good for making crispy cakes too :p
#6
Has been this price for ages, it used to be 25p a bar a couple of years back and went up to 26p over a year

I suppose this can be said for ALL chocolate. If you want to eat healthy, you dont eat chocolate.

This deal is not for ultra healthy people, it is for people who enjoy chocolate but dont want to get ripped off paying for big company advertising when they buy a bar.

awesome for the wifes white chocolate cheesecake...voted HOT!
#9
Chocheaven ... or weighwatchers! I dont care

Been this price for a long time now...

My brother used to only eat well known branded chocolate until my dad got so fed up of paying over £1/bar. So he got a piece of the cheap one and expensive one and asked him to taste them both and say which was better. Ok my brother is blind so he couldn't tell by the look, dad's advantage. Anyway since then he only gets the 27p bars cos he can get 4 for the price of 1.

awhile back they did go down to 16p I think for a week.

With the summer hols coming up, then making chocolate crispies or fruit dipped in chocolate is a fun thing to do with the kids (however unhealthy etc) so it's worth knowing that it doesn't have to cost much and let's face it the kids aren't going to care about cocoa content and as a one off neither am I!

Not all chocolate will contain this many additives and unatural ingredients. I would not consider myself an ultra healthy person and I enjoy chocolate but would never eat this rubbish. Chocolate should be enjoyed because of its quality and taste not the quantity you can gorge on for a few pennies.

I guess if all you have to spend is 27p go forth and multiply!

Cheap choc tastes different i think , usually these are thinner, Which did your brother like best by the way?.

I saw Morrisons do there own chcoccie too, think its something like 37p though as i though the price was a little expensive for some cheapo chocolate, then again im a cheapskate at times

one of my favourite chocolates is galaxy with caramel. mmmmmm gorgeous.
A shame they don't make them in bigger sizes :(.

Morrisons 100g bars are 27p milk choocolate and 34p for fruit and nut, I think. (I've got through a fair bit recently.) Yes, thinner than branded bars but just the right brittleness and definitely recommended to chocoholics both for taste and price.
#20
If you like the taste then go for it. Don't let chocolate connoisseurs put you off other than to remind you that good quality chocolate won't have vegetable fat in it. Cocoa butter is the real deal.
Still for the price you can't go wrong.
#21
Had this several times. Yes it is Good Value, however to say it tastes as good as chocolate 4 times the Price is a Joke!:p Its cheap chocolate and it tastes OK.:whistling: Cadburys is exspensive and tastes Fantastic!
#22
27p at Tesco and Asda too. Asda one seems less sweet than the Tesco one when buying the plain chocolate version. As stated nutritional value not good but like Mcdonalds you aren't supposed to live on it!

read the label if u are worried about the calories, sugar % etc etc.

I've tried the milk chocoloate one before and it taste disgusting, it just tasted of a lot of sugar and milk (powdered milk at tat). As another posted has pointed out cocoa is more expensive than milk and sugar so to make it this cheap.. well u do the maths.

I like my milk chocolate to have a decent % of cocoa in it

oh i am no fan of expensive chocolate or a food brand person, cadbury's isn't all that nice either.

Shocked at how many calories it contained? Did she think she was eating a carrot:?:
#25
Yeah well can't really go wrong with white choc, they all taste milky and really sweet,
Dark choc again can’t really taste much from a cheap brand, unless you are talking about 70%-80% lindt choc. Milk choc, it’s the one that you can tell the quality from the unbranded

But for 27p great for cooking
#26
always been this price

Not hot
#27
i buy these occasionally. i find the problem is with them is that i can easily eat more than 1 bar because they are so unfullfilling. not that they should be filling, but i always put this down to the fact that they are so cheap and full of rubbish.
#28
Its been 27p for a while now.As mentioned good for cooking and chocolate sauce.Perfect for a chocolate fountain.

Like what? What's in here that's not present in other chocolate? You can't just say these things like you have a point.

The white chocolate is nice. I've used the milk chocolate to make rice crispy cakes and they turn out great.
#30
I like own brand chocolate although I rarely go for the absolute cheapest no frills stuff. I don't think it's quite as good and it's usually unsatisfying thin. I like a heavy bar of chocolate as weird as that sounds. I also love the stuff Aldi do which is cheap and damn tasty. I was for a time addicted to their fake Snickers lol!
#31
I buy this sometimes. The milk chocolate tastes so good.
#32
Just to re-iterate the obvious.

This is a 100G bar of chocolate.....SO, its the same weight as any other 100g bar !! - ie, it will be as thick and heavy as a cadburys 100g bar of chocolate. It baffles me that people say "its probably a thin unsatisfying bar of (100g) chocolate, i perefer a nice thick (100g) bar of chocolate ) - makes me laugh !!

Agreed, that person clearly has never read the ingredients of these bars. In my experience (and yes, I have done general comparisons) basics products generally contain less non-essential ingredients which would bump up the price.

cold, dont have yellow choclate
#35
The milk chocolate is pretty rancid and tastes a bit like the chocolate you get in kids advent calendars.

The white chocolate is nice though:thumbsup:
#36
ehm isnt that chocolate like 25p ALL THE TIME?
my wife buys this one for cakes and stuff, and i agree, it is pretty good. But that is the regular price!
#37
I can confirm too,they aren't bad.
#38
Just tried the milk chocolate one and it's pretty good and for the price it has to be a bargain. I ate seven squares one after the other and felt a bit sick, that must mean it's good chocolate!
#39
Have to echo other posters by saying that Basics White Chocolate is the best tasting of the lot.
#40
In Tescos it's...
Milk 23p
Plain 27p
