Went into Lidl and found this little gem. To be honest thought the chocolate was going to taste like bad christmas decorations although its actually bloomin lovely! And very cheap at that!

Just been to my Lidl,
I noticed that, behind the usual (blue) paper-wrapped milk chocolate bars, there were new (same look Fin Carre') sealed foil-wrapped bars. I spent a bit of time reading the new wrapper:
the formulation is different. Whether it will be still good, better, or worse tha the one being phased out, I DO NOT KNOW, and I leave you to taste and judge. My instinct, after the experience with Morrisons value dark choc bar, told me to grab the whole two dozens of the old type, while still available.

I've heard a few people recommend Lidl chocolate so I gave it a try this week (when it was 39p). It's pretty good stuff, quite similar to Dairy Milk, and an absolute steal at 29p.

I'd stock up on my way home but I'm cycling today and I'd want four or five good locks before parking up at the local Lidl :p

39p in my lidl :(

Been buying this for over 10 years.

Has always been good.

Bye bye Cadbury/Kraft!

Thornton's chocolate is crap.

What happened to the Lidl coffee chocolate? Not seen it for a long time.
#17
Decent price, used to be 25p a year or so ago though. Great chocolate for the price mind

Is that the Schottegn (or something like that?!) cappucino chocolate bars you mean? If so they still sell them. I was just looking at these yesterday and as well as the plethora of milk chocolate bars, they had caramel and tiramisu.

Not sure, but I'll have a look next time I'm in there - thanks. The ones I'm talking about were 200gm bars, in the same range as the 200gm milk and plain chocolate, with a cardboard outer wrapper.

The cardboard outer wrapper sounds right, and it comes already split into individual pieces. l've found some details about it online including photos so if it's the same one I'm sure you'll recognise the packet. It's Schogetten, and though I've only seen a handful of varieties in Lidl (and only ever tried the cappucino version), there's loads of them available in Germany.

Thanks for going to all the trouble! It's not the one, but it still sounds interesting. Interesting website you've linked to, too.

I did find this photo, though, of the one I meant, inspired by your research:

I see that it was called Coffee Cream, rather than just Coffee. :)

No worries, coffee chocolate, it's no trouble at all thinking about that ;)

Cheers for that photo, seeing the picture I can remember it now, that stuff was delicious. I only ever got it a couple of times and that was quite a while ago. Never seen it since, the Schogetten chocolate they sell now is a poor substitute.
