insanely hot if you ask me :)

Good deal, but 250GB for £10 more is a better deal IMHO

Edit: The 250GB drive is 3.5 inches not 2.5

same question here ....is it fully powered from USB or does it need an external power supply? TIA.
#12
Its USB powered and no external power supply reqd. I'm pretty confused whether the product is actually from Samsung, as no official Samsung Logo is there in the box and the packing is different
They haven't mentioned whether the RPM is 5600 or 7200.
Not as good deal as previous Seagate Deal from Maplin, but voted hot.
#13
The packaging says "Powered by Samsung", which suggests that it is not a Samsung product, but does use a Samsung HDD.

Thanks for this, I'm looking for an external hard drive. Will it be cheaper to get a 3.5" drive? Needs to be around 100gb.
#16
I have a 39.99 store-credit (that can be used in any store) that I'm willing to sell for 35.00 if anyone is interested, just drop me a PM!

Very nice price for a Samsung 100GB! Voted hot!

not a samsung product

@robcpfc79, 3.5 will always be cheaper but this wouldn't need a separate power supply and will be more portable
#18
Thinking about buying this and taking the HD out!

Doubt the drive alone will come with Samsung's 3-year warranty, though. Doesn't specify.

Hi, Good find. Like Samsung hard disk drives.

Voted hot.

>getknk..for the 60 gb version - "Drive Spindle Speed: 4200 RPM"..according to Amazon. co.uk (Amazon shop - Storage Depot)

"Data Transfer Rate: around 12MB/sec on USB2.0, 1MB/sec on USB1.1 This is a real, meaningful transfer rate." Weight they say is 180 grams.

However, on Storage Depot's own website it lists it as 5400 rpm?? & weighs 205 grams

what do you reckon? Better to go for a faster one?

It's reckoned that even though (in theory) USB2 maxes at 60MB, in reality it only allows hard drives about 15MBp/s.

I just ordered one anyway..just a 60gb..and a few bits I needed for free P&P ie for orders over £35..oh and a 3% discounbt via quidco.

Does this samsung drive compatible with OS Windows Vista?

Does this hard drive compatible with OS Windows Vista?
#29
I see no reason why not. It's USB which is supported in Vista.

Edit - This is the SW shown on the box http://www.backup4all.com/

Aria says that the similar 250gb unit is 7200/8mb. Also says it's not Bus powered and that it's ATA/IDE

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Backup+Devices/250gb+%22One+Touch+Backup+HDD%22+External?productId=26734

Might be worth a punt as it seems to include the SW I posted above.

Anyone got one yet?
