Why are people voting this hot???

It could be ****.

The shops are closed and no proof..

1 post.
#3
All out of stock, if they were in stock though, i'd buy a few and trade them in at a local game shop for cash.
#4
ok. its my first post. but i have had many a good deal on these forums so i thought i would share this with you guys.

i was in my local currys today and they had about 15 titles all priced up at from 4.97 to 14.97 but when they got scanned they all came up at 97p.

Incorrect.

Not all GBA Games are 97p. ( Example: Sims 2 - £4.97)

I added some info to an old thread http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51349&page=9

Currys have reduced 500 games to 97p. This is help stores get rid of the clearance lines. Formats reduced are GBA, PS2, XBOX, & DS.

Unfortunatley, staff were told this a few days before it happened and thus they would have got all the good stuff, unless you get lucky.

Saw these 97p games in curries also. I picked up 2 copies of project rub on Nintendo DS and one copy of fzero on GBA. Thanks. Voted Hot

I'm sure this will help some -

Type .97 in the search field on currys.co.uk and you will see a list of games that you're able to reserve and collect instore.
All GBA games, apart from Urban GT on Ds - all 97p

Fur Urban GT you can make £5 profit for each one if traded at CEX.
#13
Just did that .97 search and it came up with

LEXAR
1GB GAMING MS DUO
1GB GAMING MEMORY STICK DUO

for 97p on reserve and collect!

Verified the deal as well, got 2 GBA games, both scanned at 0.97, even though there was no indication that they were that price. I didn't check the DS titles...

Is there any way to get a full list of titles? The Currys site doesn't have many of the titles on it, so you can't get a full list from there. I'm interested in which DS titles are reduced.
#16
I wonder how currys ever sell anything, the prices marked on their goods are ALWAYS either non-existent or complete fiction.
#17
Here's the list of DS title found so far:

Pac-Pix
Pokemon Dash
Project Rub
Asphalt Urban GT
Spiderman

Bless you.

I added to the old thread as it wasn't marked expired and as per forum guidlines and wanted to avoid duping.

Oh, well - at least the deal is posted for others to grab

i got 10 games from currys in caerphilly, including lma manager 2005 for xbox, fight night 2 for ps2, detonator for ps2. these were reduced tho because there were no boxes. The cheat discs (xploder) for ps2 and xbox were 99p also wireless headphones for gba for 97p
#20
97p titles at currys are as rare as gold dust.

I seriously doubt there will be 500 titles available at 97p on sunday.
#21
Some more updates:
GBA - Planet of the Apes - scanned for 1p!
DS - Spiderman 2 - scanned for 7p!

Got those two as well as several others. Note: the Urban GT is the original version, GT 2 rings up at the high price.

i went to the wolverhampton store, wow, the sales assistant was arguing with me and wanting to know what i was going to do with the games ( i got 9 games, all reserved as i was doing a favour for some of my work colleagues).
the first sales assistant was saying it was not fare that i was buying these games and that it was stopping someone else from getting any ( there were loads more there!!) the manager then accused me of fraud if i sold the games on to my work colleagues.

so something i could have purchased in 5 minutes took 20 minutes with me in the end telling the sales assistant what i did with the games was none of her business. the manager who had accused me of committing fraud then said that people were buying them and exchanging them for more than they were being charged.
my response was, ' do you ask people who buy a microwave what they are going to do with it?'

i had to drive 14 miles there to pick the games up as no where else had any ( those micro gameboys are popular at work, i know of at least 5 peeps with them) 2 phone calls and i had conformation from colleagues on what games to get which were on offer.

so anyone going to the st johns retail park wolverhampton, just be aware that you will probably be accused by a sales assistant of cheating and of fraud by the manager.

oh and as i was in wolverhampton, i went to the currys in town,i spoke to a lovely sales assistant who showed me what games were on offer, so i grabbed some oldish ps2 games for myself at .97 each, she said there were loads of games in the morning but the sale assistants grabbed all the good games, she also said they did it each time the sales were on, they buy the games for .47 or .97p and at lunch would go down stairs to the CEX store and get £5 for each game.

Just been to my local Currys Digital and got -

GBA Disneys Treasure Planet - 0.01
GBA Shrek 2 Beg For Mercy - 0.48
GBA Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red - 2.48

All games were marked £9.97. The staff instore didn't know anything about the price drop so there was plenty of stock.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is 9.99 in Argos and gets you 8.00 exchange in Gamestation.

Currys have disgusting customer service. Tried to return a faulty freezer to them and they insisted on testing it out wich took over an hour. Got my money back evenutally but won't go near them for expensive items.

Adding to the list of games:

Grand Theft Auto on the GBA 97p
Payback - GBA - 97p
PS2 Ratchett and Clank - 97p
PS2 The Hobbitt - 97p
PS2 World Rally Champ 4 - 97p

Not really the best titles, but these were instock and available to buy at my local store (I didnt buy them because I didnt have the cash on me, but when I go back on Wednesday I'll have them if no-one else has picked them up first). It is worth checking your local store becuase none of these have been marked down, the discount only appears when scanned!, so be nice to your local sales "colleague".
#27
Just come back from Currys in Poole and got Who want to be a Millionaire on GBA for 97p and Rayman 3 on PS2 for 97p - why are people so cynical - don't knock it 'til you've tried it!!

just seems strange that some places are charging different prices for the same games.

I did have this happen to me when the King Kong 360 was 97p.
Went to a small Currys, picked up a copy which was price marked at £14.97 and they override the 97p to the stickered price.

The manager said he could charge whatever he wanted, and didn't have to abide by Head Ofiice prices!

Luckly a few customers came into the shop at that point, and i made sure they heared our conversation, at which point he backed down and gave it to me for 97p.

I believe this was a example of staff wanting the product for themselves, which is also why i don't use the reserve and collect as chances are the staff see the price and suddenly you get a call stating its out of stock!

This is why i think it is the staff member pricing it, i was stood near the gba games and a member of staff come out of the store room with the pokemon game and i saw him enter it into the stock/price check pc and it came up at 97p the member of staff then went off, i asked another member of staff if they had more games and when he came back with them all i picked up the pokemon game and took it to the till, the guy who had scanned it at the price check pc put it through the till at 4.97.
#36
Currys are a joke, just came back from my local store, I asked about the offer, and the manager openly said, no all the games are gone, the staff have had them all, he then went to to tell me with delight that one member of staff went in on the sunday morning and bought 30 games himself. It makes you wonder why they do such deals, they may as well just let the staff have them to put on e-bay.

GBA Shrek 2 Beg For Mercy - I paid 97p!
GBA Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red - I paid 4.97!

I had a very similar experience to a previous poster. I asked about them, and the assistant said that staff had just gone through and bought all the 97p titles. I tried a few titles , which were on this post, but they were full price.

He did say that if it ended in a 7 (the 6 figure code on their packaging) then it was 'sale' stock but I couldn't find any.
#39
Currys in Beckton had a pile on the till all marked at 97p.

I took a few but still some left (@ 13:45)

Other games in the sale:

Batman Begins
Polar express
Shark tale
F-zero
Desailly Soccer

These were the ones left by staff!?

Well typical Currys. Got nothing either!
