Daft question perhaps - can't you get DC-DC converters to power a laptop from a 12V outlet? I think that would be more efficient, but you probably couldn't get such a device for £9.99...

Then you could plug in a 6 socket extension lead...

i bought a dc to dc converter for my laptop only cost me £5 hence no need for the inverter thi would struggle to power my laptop 230v 1.25a is over 300 watts at full capacity

Laptop using 300 watts would think it would melt checked mine and its using between 25 to 35watts so works ok on one of these
Used 150watt inverter for our stables as no mains use to run 4 x 20 watt CFL low energy lights was loads more efficient than halogen only drawing 85 watt from battery .Use LED now but they were not any good then was few years ago
Also used 145 watt horse clippers on mine with out any problems most clippers are 70 watt so would think be ok on this one cheaper
than buying cordless or 12v ones for over £200
Be careful with some DC to DC converters some poor quality ones about can damage your laptop

Can I use this to run this? http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/silverline-110w-orbital-car-polisher-3-year-guarantee-from-tesco-5-48-1229297

I quite fancy going on a camping holiday and using this to polish some trees, or passing wild animals.

Hate class ohlson. Especially the one in Leeds city centre, If I actually wanted one of these their would be no chance of finding it, the shops just a complete mish mash no order to it at all.

Thanks OP, been looking for a cheap one of these to charge my gadgets on the way to work when I forget to charge them beforehand. Will pick one up if I can find them in my local Clas Ohlson (Solihull.) :) Heat added!

Brilliant shop. Was in Manchester on business and popped into Arndale and there was Chas. Haven't been in one since Watford closed.
Managed to get 2 x halogen bulbs for £3.60 when everywhere else wanted £4+ for 1.

Just a thought... maybe you could ask a store assistant if you can't find what you are looking for.

It would be 90 Watts if the power factor of the supply is 1 (or at unity) which it wont be, so expect a little bit more.

Waste of money, this won't even mange a laptop unless its a netbook.

Even a 90watt power pack this will struggle to kick it up as the start up current is to high
