If you want one I suggest you go to the link and configure what you need well in advance of 10am and add it to your basket, then hover there at near 10am and repeatedly try to enter the code in the box, if your lucky you may just get one when the code goes live at 10am.

Good luck!

Sorry, not much of an expert on these sort of things. Whereabouts in the process does the discount code get applied? I've got as far as credit card details and still haven't seen the box to enter the discount. I've probably missed it somewhere. Don't want to end up buying the system by putting in the cc details without the discount. Also, can you alter anything in the system(upgrade memory, whatever) you have outlined and still qualify for the discount, or is it just the system you have posted on?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bottom half of your basket page is set up with this text and a box to enter a coupon
-------------------------------------------------------
Coupon Entry
Sign in to retrieve coupons from your account
OR Enter coupon number

Apply Coupon
-------------------------------------------------------

You may configure the system as you wish as the discount is taken from the basket price.

This page may help, its £80 extra discount.

I don't think this is such a hot deal considering the spec of the system.
[mod]#6
Lets see then, what we have.

19" Dell TFT £172, XP home £50, ram £30, H/Drive £30, DVDRW £25, Mobo and cpu say £100, whoops got to well over £400 already and I havnt added the years warranty, case, keyboard and mouse, 15 months anti virus.
Looks like a fair enough deal for the price to me.

Thanks MikeT got that discount code box now. As a complete non expert in computers I wonder if you would care to comment on whether this would be a suitable spec. for web browsing and fairly standard to basic computing usage(I don't do gaming or anything particularly computing intensive)? I would want to add a Wifi card for wireless internet access, which I assume would be no problem with this system?

Anything to watch out for in the quoted spec.?

I greatly appreciate you, or anyone else, taking the time to make any comments.

Cheers
#8
PS: I meant to ask, does this £80 discount apply to all systems, or just the one you flagged up?
#9
Yep this is a bargain given that it's got the 19" TFT.

'tis a very good deal indeed. Unfortunately my irrational hatred of Dell stops from me buying this :). But thanks anyway, voted hot!

This will do you fine for general computing needs, comes with works 8.5 so also has word processing, spreadsheet and database progs.
Use a wifi USB dongle as its then more use to you to plug into any other kit you buy, saves messing inside the box too.
This code is only for this one system and remember dont be too dissapointed if you are not one of the 20 as lots will be trying for it.
Just do as I said and be ready with code to go!
Good luck!!

Hi Mike

Thanks for all your efforts.

I built the system, put it in basket, as you suggested, then hit the discount code button at 10: 00:01 and had fired through the credit card details, order, etc by 47 seconds past 10 but no discount came up. Is it not working, or is 47 seconds from start to finish WAY to slow to get these types of offers?

Thanks for your help regardless :-)

Please keep us posted of any future good deals and I will train up my fingers to move faster in future ;-)
[mod]#13
Well you may have missed it or even been too early, what should have happened had the code been accepted was a red discount of -£80 figure come up or rather £80 -vat on the page that you entered the code on, until that shows there is no point moving on to card details.
Perhaps I should have given more info.
Next time eh!
Sorry you missed it.
[mod]#14
I have to guess you didnt actually order the system Heraldic? If you did in error then just phone sales and get it cancelled, or be real cheeky and ask them to give you the discount or you will cancel, you may get lucky.
#15
I failed like you Heraldic - as much as I love a bargain, if this is the way Dell is going, with these fastest finger first bargains then they may well see me shopping elsewhere.
I'm looking for a desktop for my family and was fortunate in that I was in the house this morning to 'waste' the time attempting to get this. i doubt I'll find the time / ability to wait before and around 10am again in the immediate future, and hope deals as good as this are offered in more conventional routes.
Thanks, as always for the information Mike
#16
Yup. Not to worry. Next time.

Certainly nothing came up to indicate the discount was pending but it did say something to the effect that: this discount would not be accepted until the full transaction was completed-that's why I dashed ahead to try and complete the deal.

Are these deals random, or do they happen every week at the same time? Thanks.
#17
This was a great deal for £350 and easily woth that amount :) Thanks Mike!

The discount code now shows up as "previously redeemed"
[mod]#18
I'm with Mr C here, I dont much like the first 20 fastest connections getting the deal either. I would much rather see dell offering real deals for all instead of a crumb trail leading to hopefully you buying at normal price as you were dissapointed not to get the one you wanted.
They have had several of these deals in the last two weeks, expect a laptop next but not before Monday earliest as its Dell deal revamp day tomorrow (Thursday) so I will see what I can pick out for you all then.
#19
I'm sure you'll find us some bargains Mike!

I know where you are coming from rayman (and everyone who votes this 'hot'), but this surely one of the major requirements of a 'great deal' or a hot deal is you having a pretty reasonable chance of actually getting it!
#20
I managed to get the £80.00 discount applied to my order, but did not realise that it is only valid if you are one of the first 20 to COMPLETE.

So when i eventually had put in my details it came back with an error screen saying the code was now invalid.

Crap:-(
#21
Close but no cigar aircub! Nice to see some of us actually got close!
[mod]#22
I'm sure Dell are not going to win too many new friends with these offers, last week I was able to enter the code repeatedly for some 25mins after the due time and it would be accepted and show the discounted price. Only when you tried to checkout did it error and thats just not nice!

I meant it was a great deal and worth the money, not that it should be voted hot even though the 20 offered have now gone :)

It's much better to see those Dell's that Mike posts on a Thursday, available to hundreds rather than tens ;-) But that's the way marketing goes I suppose. Quick influx of potential buyers, drawn in just like the High Street sales with only a few to the first three or four through the door

Can anyone comment on where these Dell Daily Offers are posted or printed in the first place.

Thanks
